I put undeserved because of the reason and the amount of time in that reason.
Do not get me wrong, it is kind of cool that he sort of reached out to find peaceful soulution with Ah ma-uh- whatever, Although, in my opinion, this might not have been worth it, and may have caused more turmoil and shakiness then not. Plus, its only been a few months, or maybe even just one out reach. I really do not think he has done much and sure has not been doing it for very long. So no, maybe it was not deserved.
Other people that have won this century have words like "efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge ....measures that are needed to counteract such change"-which Al Gore is still doing , "contribution to sustainable development, democracy and peace", "on several continents and over more than three decades, to resolve international conflicts", "decades of untiring effort...promote economic and social development"
Some of the names I recognize and some have been proven to be less then right so Who knows...Maybe I should have selected undecided since its not up to us to decide and I can't articulate thoughts I do not have.

While I do not think he is entirely undeserving of the award, I do think it's entirely too early in his career to really say whether he deserves the award or not. It seems entirely based on his potential, rather than on his actual achievements.

Undeserved. I'm not going to pretend that I like our current President, but that's not why I think he was a terrible choice for the Nobel Prize.
There were several other candidates who clearly deserved the prize more- such as a pro-democracy advocate in China. A Nobel Prize for a Chinese dissident would have been a massive blow to that oppressive regime, and would have served to greatly further the cause of rights in China. Instead, the Prize committee gave the award to a man who just last week refused to meet the Dalai Lama in order to not offend the authoritarian Chinese regime.
Additionally, I can't help but think that the Prize committee has been, over the last few years, greatly eroding their credibility. Many peace prizes, in particular, have been made for political purposes (I'm no fan of Bush, but some of the peace laureates from his era- Carter and Gore to name only two- were named as thinly-disguised attacks on his policies). The newest laureate, with his embarrassingly lacking resume, only confirms the now obvious ideological biases of the Prize committee.

President Obama wrote:
To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize -- men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.
But I also know that this prize reflects the kind of world that those men and women, and all Americans, want to build -- a world that gives life to the promise of our founding documents. And I know that throughout history, the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it's also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes. And that is why I will accept this award as a call to action -- a call for all nations to confront the common challenges of the 21st century.
If the goal is to promote peace, it makes sense to consider effort, potential, and momentum in addition to results. By these standards it is plausible that Obama deserves the Nobel.

Looking at other canditates, Obama seems to be the strongest. Kenyan opposition leader who held a long demonastrations before reaching deal with Kenyan president was seemed as a winner by many. But that does not makes any sense. No one in the world has done the jobs in present that Obama is doing.

I'm curious. Who were the other candidates?
