Okay, I'll bite. I don't care about any politicians' sex lives. I don't think the Lewinsky scandal was such a big deal, although Clinton "lied to the American people." If YOU had committed adultery and were in the public eye, I think you would lie, too. I would like to use a quote by the wise Canadian prime minister who legalized same-sex marriage in Canada: "The state has no place in the bedrooms of this nation."

I put 'Yes' because it said ' to some extent' after and I like to leave things open for the just in case scenarios that may show up. Their sex lives can be a symbol, to some extent, the kind of person they are and beliefs they have. The petty things are in fact no big deal. However, if they bounce from bed to bed, use prostitutes (illegal!), demean women or children, do ‘it’ in inappropriate places, and so on would have a very negative connotation and could mean disaster for whatever they are running for. I would even consider their views on homosexuality (which I think falls in this category a little) an important factor.
Do not get me wrong, I would not base my vote on this one factor entirely; it’s a whole person judgment in comparison to the other choices.
All together politics is just annoying.

I picked 'It depends'. Look at Larry Craig.
He was caught soliciting a man (an officer) for sex in an airport bathroom. It's not the fact that he's homosexual, but that he's duplicitous. He supports banning gay marriage!! Plus, he denied that he's gay even after he was caught! What does that tell you about his character?!
Sometimes a politician's sex life can show his/her true colors, but of course, basing judgement on one detail is just plain silly (and plus, the media can mar the needed attention for important issues at hand).

Michael Franti is awesome! I'd never even heard of him until a few months ago, but as soon as a friend introduced me to his music I fell in love with it. By the way I think it's kind of ironic that somebody else mentioned Franti right after I change my signature to a quote from one of his songs.
"Life is too short to make just one decision
Music's too large for just one station
Love is too big for just one nation and
God is too big for just one religion"

I don't care about someone's personal sexual choices, but I do care how you behave in regards to your sex life. Lying, cheating, or acting with other unethical behaviors in relation to your sex lives translates directly into how you make decisions and you ethical standards.
If you act one way in your personal life you are going to be that way in your professional life. Aggressive people are aggressive with both co-workers and families. Liars lie to anyone, private and public, if it serves their purpose. I do not believe your private life and public life can truly be kept separate, especially for politicians. That is why educated voting is so important.

It depends on what aspect it is. I could care less if a politician was gay, straight, bi, or whatever. But, if he (or she) has gone out and raped someone, that would be a good thing to know when voting for that person.

This is pretty much how I feel as well. The sanctity of marriage does not really seem to exist among many people these days anyhow, and I sort of think that politicians are sort of pressured to remain in unhappy marriages for the sake of public appearances.
Of course, if the politician were a rapist or child molester, I think that would have quite a significant impact on my vote!
because in all honesty, I base who I would vote on (if I where not an anarchist,) on the same types of things all Americans base their votes on...what little the media gives us about the morals and ethics of the individuals running for office.
If I heard, for example, that Obama beats his wife with bamboo poles in the bedroom, well, frankly, yes, that would change what I thought of Obama, if only subconsciously. I'm not sure if this would be a subconscious good thing, or a subconscious bad thing, but it would certainly mean something to me. (I think it is more likely that McCain beats his wife in the bedroom, but maybe I'm jumping to conclusions.)
Let's bring out all the dirt we can find on politician's sex lives...god wouldn't that be fun? More fun then hearing about Brittany Spears at this point, for sure.
because the very nature of anarchy is that each of us gets to make his/her own decisions about what he or she does...I have no right to tell anyone to vote or not to vote. Nevertheless, anarchy as I see it is a desire for no centralized government; or at least no government as we currently define it. In my ideal world, people would live in little tribal groups and decisions would be made mostly by consensus...(I say mostly, because sometimes the input of very young children, people who are mentally ill, etc, might have to be overridden...)
Therefore, many anarchists chose not to vote, because the very act of voting is, to them, an act of hypocracy...they want none of the politicians; in fact, they want no politicians whatsoever, so voting is in essence setting aside the very ideals they hold dear.
That being said, I am still figuring out whether or not to vote in the upcoming "election"...at the moment, this is the government we have, and I realize that when people like me do not vote, we get the greater of two evils in power (not that this "election" won't be rigged anyway...I sort of think at the last moment, Dubya might laugh and say "what, you people haven't figured out that this isn't a democracy anymore and that I'm your lord and master...ahhhhahahahahahahah!!!?) Maybe I'm projecting.

Funny, the first thing my juvenile mind though of was my voting being interrupted by some sexual act.
I chose that it doesnt matter. I think a person's sex life is their personal business, and that theres always more to it than what others see. Someone can have a scandalous sex life and still be an excellent worker.
I voted yes, but it only matters to me if a candidate is doing something they shouldn't be (like John Edwards or Mark Foley). I believe that only those that can "govern" themselves are fit to attempt to govern a nation.

If we had the great misfortune of John Edwards becoming President, and if he had successfully kept his illicit affair secret, he would have been subject to blackmail by anybody who gained knowledge of his secret. He would hae been desparate to keep his sex life secret and anybody who knew it could use the knowledge to control him.
I really don't think that is what we want in a President.
And, anybody who is sleazy enough to cheat on his very sick wife is sleazy enough to do just about anything. I don't think we need somebody that sleazy as President.

On average, I don't care about their sex lives. They are their own. However, I would not really want to have someone in office that can't maintain a basic open relationship with their significant other. Nor would I want particular types in office with power over marriage and laws relating to things for other's sex lives.
It is indeed an interesting question to tease out the finer details, but this is just my general thought on the matter. For the most part, it would need to be an individual case study.
