I figured it would be best to have a single forum topic for everyone to post updates as they saw fit about JulNo. Is it going well? Did you make your goal today? Have your goals changed any? Feel free to share, rant, vent, or celebrate here!
JulNo Writing Updates

I managed to make my goal tonight after we got the kids to sleep. I, surprisingly, managed to get 141 words over the goal (1641 instead of 1500) which is great since I wasn't sure I'd even be able to write at all :)
How did all of you do today? Did you make your goals or are you struggling to get started?

Stuff's been busy lately and I just remembered like 30 minutes ago that I'm supposed to be writing. So I'm a little behind but I'm not too worried, tomorrow is gonna be a pretty boring day which is good for writing.
If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed...nothing shall be impossible unto you. - Matthew 17:20
I had a great first day... nearly 5500 words. But I'm guessing my genre is a little easier to write without a plan than most of yours.
I'm not entirely sure how long this is going to be, but I think I can make the 50K easily by the end of the month, probably a lot sooner if I keep up the pace I'm going now. It feels really nice to have a little bit of wiggle room, though.
I haven't yet written anything today, but I have a few hours of quiet when I get home from work, so that's probably what I'll work on then. Either that, or I'll do some more laundry and plan out what I'm going to write in my head :)

I made 1830+ words wich is very nearly my three page goal.
It was a memory for one of the characters I may have. I am not sure yet how it will fit in or how it will change but it only took half a nap time.
Maybe I can do this

3919 on the First... haven't started yet today, but I see good things happening :)
I decided to continue my 2007 NaNo... after reading it on the 30th and starting it yesterday, I'm so enamored with it that (Like I was telling mvenus) I can not WAIT to be done and have completed my very first novel...
A goal I've had since I was about seven. :D

Bleh... Fourth of July threw me off. I wanted to get up to 10K yesterday, because then I'd at least be writing the amount you're supposed to each day, but I fell about 300 words short of my goal. Oh well.
My sister just came home from camp yesterday, so this next week is going to be a little more difficult in the writing department. We'll see what happens.
In other news, one of the challenges posted on a LJ community I'm a part of has given me some ideas for an original fiction piece. I don't know if I'll be able to get to it this month, but it'll be fun to get started on it when I do get to it.

I wrote a post yesterday about where I was but I wasn't logged in at the time (which was weird, because I'm ALWAYS logged in!) so it wouldn't let me comment and it ERASED my comment so I said "screw this." haha.
I was so ahead on Day 1 that Days 2 and 3 I didn't get many more than 500 or 600 words. It was bad. But as of yesterday, I'm back on track.
The end.

I am not quite on track yet, but I guess that was to be expected with everything else going on here. I did manage to write the entire prologue, the first chapter, and type and edit part of the second chapter. My NaNo count is... drumroll... 4146 words. So... I'm not too terribly behind as that would put me at about 1000 words a day. Which means I need 3354 words today. Though, I'll probably have to split it into 2 days and just do 2500 words each day.
I'm in dire need of an opinion on the prologue though. Anyone willing?

Sadly, I am WAY behind. I only started a few days ago, because I didn't have my computer with me. I am on vacation with faimily. So a few days ago I bought a notebook and am writing by hand. I haven't been counting, because I fear the number would be too depressing. I am, however, writing steadily. Because I didn't have my laptop, I decided to start a new story instead of continueing my old one.

You can do it!
I imagine it's a lot more difficult, word-count wise, to write by hand... while I can type over 1000 words in an hour, you can probably only keep that up for so long. Still, at least you're writing :)

I echo mvenus here. You're writing and that's what counts! You may be surprised at how many words you're actually getting. I know when I write by hand, which is far too often, I tend to be pleasantly surprised at how many words I actually have. 1,000 words tends to look at lot more like 500 words :)

I passed the halfway point yesterday morning, got up to 28K or so, and then took a break from my project for the rest of the day. I wrote a couple of short stories (and started on a third), and posted them to a challenge group I'm part of, so I've been getting a little feedback on that.
I'm definitely going to have to go back and add in some sections in my various chapters, because even when I talk about the last two major things I want to talk about (religion and my college years), I'm not sure I can get another 22K out of it. We'll see.
How's everyone else doing?

Terrible. I don't know how many words I have as I haven't typed anything lately... but I know I haven't moved much beyond where I was a few days ago. I can't seem to find the energy to write. I know what I want to say and how I say it, but as soon as I sit down to do it, I just end up sitting there. It's pitiful. I seriously need a dose of motivation or I'll be lucky to make half of my goal. And with final essays this week... I'm just burned out.
How are you guys staying motivated?

Well, I was doing one day on and one day off-- that was doing really well for me, because I had one lazy day and one really motivated, buckle-down day.
But now I've had three days off, so I'm way behind.
It's okay, because now I'll just have to write every day [the same I was writing every two days] instead of every other day, but I have to get back on track.
I'm moving the majority of my stuff today and tomorrow. Then hopefully, with less clutter in my apartment, I'll be able to sit and write and write and write.
Next weekend, I'll have a nice big house to write in! Yay! :)

Comparing my word count to other's helped for a while, but now that I'm above most everyone (there's three listed above me on the JulNo site), that doesn't work so well.
So, I have a word war with myself. I tell myself I'm going to sit down and write, and in 15-20 minutes, I can stop and get up again. I end up going on longer, because I don't want to stop in the middle of whatever section I'm working on. And then before I know it, I got 1000 words written, and then I leave it. I came back a few hours later and do another one.
Of course, I don't have much else to do, besides watch my sisters, so that might help out some :)

I think part of my problem is that I've always written late at night. Now though... come one in the morning, I'm ready to crash. I think I'm going to try going to bed earlier and getting up at like the crack of dawn... a few days of that and I should be well on my way to being ready to kill for time to write at night. Forcing myself to endure them in order to write should cure my lack of motivation to write at night if anything can!

Mine's not going too bad. I have about nine hand written pages, front and back done. For awhile writing was easy because I had nothing else to do while in the car. Now, I just have to sit and write for as long as the ideas come.

I'm pretty far behind...
but today, while dreading looking at the handy report card from the JulNo website, I realized that as long as I write 2300 words a day, I can still finish on time.
Which is awesome, because I had been doing one day off and then one day with 3500 or so words, so now instead of doing that I just have to do 2300 a day. No biggie.
:) Good luck all, hope you're doing well!

I haven't written a whole lot in the past couple days, but I'm still so far ahead I just need to write like 800 words a day to finish on time. Hopefully later tonight I'll have the opportunity to write more, but we'll see.

I'm almost done. I'm going through it and embellishing in parts, but I have less than 5K to go to meet the 50K goal. I've added up what I've written for creative writing pursuits as well, and that adds up to just under 5K as well (and I'm going through and editing those as soon as I finish my memoir off). I had a couple of rough days on my vacation, where I didn't get the chance to write much of anything (two days I wrote absolutely nothing), but I made up for it with a couple days of 3-4K words.

I have 10,553 words typed, but I have quite a few pages still awaiting typing. I probably won't get that done by the end of the month either at the rate things are going here. But, at least they are written. I'm guessing I'll have made about 30,000 to 35,000 words by the end of the month. Not quite what I wanted, but it's a good start and has gotten me back into the habit of making time to write even with insanity swirling; which was the biggest thing.

Out of curiosity, is anyone doing the July challenge this year?
Like what you've read? Well, then here's more:

Not I. I'm working on finishing a couple other challenges, and editing my NaNo novel (still).
