Oil is not the blood of society; it is a deadly drug that can kill us all. Like drug usage, oil dependency carries health, financial and social problems. For the country dependent on oil, these drug related problems translate to global warming, recession, and the possibility of war respectively.

This is a "journal entry" I had to write for my Contemporary Issues class and I thought I'd share. But before you read please know that this is based off of my own opinion and backed up by some facts. I do rant a little in this, please don't be rude in commenting. Thank you.

I've spent a lot of time criticizing globalism and the planned North American Union (the combination of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico similar to the European Union), but I've come to the conclusion that it is inevitable. As long as there's more profit to be made by outsourcing labor, than it will continue to happen.

In the modern United States, a debate about the use of torture of terror suspects is raging. For the war on terror is as much a war about information as it is about bullets and bombs, and at times the military and the government will go into murky waters in an attempt to attain the information they need. Some anti-torture advocates claim that in the use of torture, the U.S.

There's too much talk about polotics that people heard from a FM radio station, or on a billboard. I'm tired of it. People just don't know what they're talking about. People posting vauge blogs about the nominee's "promises" or "Political View" -and it's simply because they just don't know, or they're trying to sound stupid. I'm tired of it.

As the Olympic torch goes around the world passing from hand to hand, it is becoming increasingly lucky that it contains fire for if it did not it would probably be burned. The Olympics are to be emblematic of global unity but they have an ironic history of being the source of the expression of fiery political tensions.

In mid-2006 a Mormon fundamentalist leader named Warren Jeffs was placed on the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Top Ten Most Wanted List as well as the Fox television show America's Most Wanted. Jeffs made it onto the infamous list for child molestation as well as other charges and the facts unveiled about him and the community he was running would make the coldest heart skip a beat.
