I wrote this for my persuasive essay in my Honors English 10 class:

An analysis of the article, “Biologist and Believer – correcting muddled thinking,” by Andrew Szebenyi:

There are two major components in identifying the difference between what is ethical and what is not:

1) What do we use to base our ethical standards?
2) How are those standards applied to specific situations faced in daily life?

Brainwashing our children?

While I’ve only been driving on my own for a year and a half now (2 years if you count the 6 months I had my permit) I feel that I am a pretty safe driver. I obey traffic rules and I don’t pull any risky stunts like pulling out in front of somebody or cutting somebody else off. I feel like I was able to take what I learned in driver’s ed and apply it in my everyday driving.

Today we believe that our convictions of our hearts are more influential than our surroundings, but this is not the case. In a chapter of Malcolm Gladwell’s book, The Tipping Point, he introduces the theory, “Power of Context”.

Over the past couple decades, technology has been on the rise. Numerous inventions have been created to make our lives easier and more 'fun'. Now almost everyone and their grandmother owns a computer. Now every son hopes to see an Xbox 360 sitting under their christmas tree.
