A large majority of Americans believe that protecting the environment is an important priority. Environmental hazards have been responsible for numerous health problems, energy inefficiency has lead to economic problems, and environmental destruction continuously threatens our quality of life.

It's easy to ignore the problems, or postpone acting to solve them, or even to come up with justifications why environmental problems should not be high on our priorities. But as progressives, our job is to solve problems, not ignore them.
