The Intellectual Shackle

Yes, yet another blog about the last presidential debate. But- before you shrug off my blog as just another political manifesto, know this- I'm not blogging about the candidates’ platforms or how they did. My goal is to explore a phenomenon I observed among my peers watching the debate with me.

Their behavior was a little disconcerting, as I noticed my fellow college students exhibiting signs of an “intellectual shackle.” What I mean is, they had brought their preconceived notions to the debate, and were therefore extremely closed-minded when it came to responding to the candidates' (usually John McCain’s) ideas. They based their opinions of the debate upon existing stereotypes rather than using their intellect to freely explore new ideas- hence the term, "intellectual shackle."  Read More »

The Geezer and the Crowd Pleaser: Campaign Personas May Have a Negative Effect on Voting Decisions

The Race is Not Over

I am currently watching a video of the debate, which I unfortunately (tortuously) missed last night, and I expected something far different. I glanced at the papers as I walked to work on Broadway Ave. and I gathered that Obama had dominated an ugly debate.  Read More »

OCt 7

I think that McCain won in some areas. Obama skipped around the questions. some of the others look through their rose colored glasses. People sometimes picked for the views I wonder if they are in a sense democrats. Democrats say obama is winning. The liberal media is the one spinning and causing a much. I think how people will look at the issues especially hard.  Read More »

My Persepective On The Debate

Tagged:  •    •    •

With the debate just finished, let me give a few points of comments from what I saw from the debate.

I liked how both candidates gave out what they were actually going to do and how they were going to solve crisis happening in our country these days ( especially the economic bailouts).  Read More »
