In case you have not yet heard this frightful piece of news, the YFZ Ranch in Texas (YFZ= "yearning for Zion") was a community of fundamentalist members of the LDS Church (i.e. they were Mormons.) In the past year or so, hate crime laws have become a big issue, largely because of the question over whether or not to include sexual orientation as a motivation for hate crime. I think it should.
