In our weekly service Sunday night, Rev. Elise, our former campus pastor, spoke about hope.
Hope, she said, is not just optimism in the face of adveristy.
The root of hope means 'valley' or 'a place between two hills'.
America is in a valley. Stock markets, housing markets, divorce rates, crime rates...not good.
Sometimes this feels like a never-ending rut. Read More »

Post-Election Bitterness
I can honestly say that, up until late Tuesday night, it had been some time since I was proud to be an American. Many foreign nations are rather angry with the USA over the wars in the Middle East and our bumbling President Dubya. But the fact that Americans elected an African-American (actually, biracial) President less than five decades after integration is flooring, and terrific. Read More »
Election Day '08
Well, looks like I'm starting off my blog on Election Day '08. I've always been involved in politics, something my mother influenced on me at an early age, and am excited to vote for my first presidential election. I wanted to take this opportunity to briefly blog about the SNL special from last night. Read More »

The United States, today, attacked Syria. Three men, one woman and four children were killed. Syria's state news agency "SANA" says 4 helicopters from Iraq crossed border about 5 miles into Syria, and hit a farm. Read More »

Political Crossroads
I've said repeatedly that I'm going to vote for John McCain next week. But despite the imperturbable political front I've displayed for the past few months, there's been a sort of political panic in my mind. John McCain is not the candidate he used to be. Democrats make fun of his use of the word "maverick," but he really was a maverick once upon a time. Now, it seems that's not as true anymore. I am a Republican, and I am a moderate, too. I belong to the party but think independently. I feel like John McCain's been pushing me away. Read More »
