More Unheard Important News: the Feds Controlling Every-- EVERY-- Aspect of your Health Care!

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •

Now, how many people have heard about Obama's latest blunder? Apparently, not too many, so I'm going to post about this myself. This is friggen' HUGE. There is a part of the latest Stimulus Package that will affect "every individual in the United States." All of our health care information will be available to the feds at will electronically. That much can be good in limited amounts because it helps to prevent repeated tests or unnecessary treatment.

However, it goes much further than that: the Feds will be watching what your doctors are doing to make sure they meet certain standards. And what are these standards based on? COST EFFECTIVENESS. They don't care about you. They only want your health care to be cost effective. This means that if you have an atypical condition which requires experimental treatment, your fate will be decided by people who have never, ever met you and only know what's on the papers they're given about you. I read this article in today’s Washington Post about the problem of obesity. I thought the problem of obesity was actually quite funny, people eating themselves to death and what not. But this article pointed out that if too many people are sick and going to the hospital the U.S. could face productivity problems.  Read More »

To Lose Your Arm Would Surely Upset Your Brain

We all know the story of antibiotics.

Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin in 1928 and there was much rejoicing.

Well, actually the rejoicing comes a little bit later, because Alexander Fleming didn't actually do anything.  Read More »

As our life expectancies grow longer, the American population of senior citizens also grows. Today, there are more than 36 million Americans over the age of 65. This is 12% of the population. By the year 2050, the number of senior citizens is expected to jump to 21% of the population, ourselves among them.  Read More »

Universal Health Care

There are few things that set off warning sirens in my head as much as the idea of universal health care. If people on this website are as scared of an Orewellian-state as I read about, this should send shivers down their spines.  Read More »
