The Art of Blogging

Ok, so anyone who has been somewhat active on the site over the past couple days has probably seen a few blogs here and there about how the quality of the site has gone down. If you've been here longer, you've probably seen dozens and dozens of blogs telling you how to write a good blog. I'll summarize the content part in one line: So what?

Please Stop

Can I say how much I hate - and I do mean hate - deleting blogs, moderating comments, unpublishing blogs, blocking user accounts...etc.?

But it's all I seem to do lately. And, apparently, it's all I seem to see several others do as well.

How to write your second blog?

I have been writing blogs for two days. So, I may not have the great advice. Here we go.

The secret to winning this contest (Pt 2): creativity

I'm not sure what the deal is but lately I've noticed a rather annoying trend here at ProgressiveU. When one blog pops up about a topic, a slew of similar entries seem to inevitably follow. If one individual blogs about religion, 10 others follow. If one blogs about how college sucks, others follow with their own tales of why college sucks.

This Site = Big Disappointment

I joined this site at the beginning of the spring scholarship competition and actually attempted the competition, which meant I spent an unreasonably large amount of time on this site. But I gave up on the scholarship when I realized something. A lot of people on this site are dumb. Some of them are really dumb. I had (and have) a difficult time finding blogs with intellectual, reasoned, or informative posts. I see tons of posts that argue for ideas I already take for granted like "racism is bad" or "we should reduce our oil consumption" without adding any new insight to the argument. Many other posts offer up trite realizations like "life sucks sometimes so you should be grateful" or "stereotypes are stupid".

What if I told you the contest was starting over?

What if I told you the contest was starting over?

Let the countdown begin . . . as the weeks and days narrow down we are almost again at the end of a contest season. It has been a contest like no other; but what have we learned from the ProgressiveU experience? Now that you have written the blogs, read the comments, and pondered for hours what does this mean to you? With all this in mind what would you change if the contest started over today? Here is what I would do. . .

Thou Shalt Post Everyday

I must admit, it was a lot easier to finish strongly during the Fall Scholarship program here at Progressive U than this Spring contest. I'm sure several of us feel the same way, as I am beginning to, once again, see blogs with complaints about the quality of writing.
