Quite Literally

Tagged:  •    •    •    •

I could take a whiskey sour right about this moment, or even a Tuborg to quench this thirst. I never knew the heat could get to your appetite the way it does mine... or maybe it's my conscience that has me favoring alcohol over real food. But what is that anymore? I don't even think I have to go into context with that.

All I can think about is the tasks at hand for my work.

Experiential Teaching & Learning… Is it really important?

Actually, I got the idea for this post from my last one on my youngest daughter’s class project concerning global warming. This is a bit different though, but still holds true to the principles concerning how teachers teach, and perhaps more importantly, how students learn.

experience of language

The subtle tie between experience and language cannot be denied. The larger a vocabulary one has in a given subject, the more in-depth and intricate one can experience that subject. Vice-versa, the more experience one has with a certain subject the more language he will have to communicate it. Consider, for example, a food critic.

Bizarre Thoughts and my Easter Vigil Experience

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •

So I went to church Saturday night for the Easter Vigil with my folks. It started off really nice, the church had the lights off and we waited for the priest to bring on the “light of God” and pass it on to everyone.

Things always look different in the dark

I remember a time in my childhood when my parents insisted on dragging me around to every one of their social events. I found them quite boring especially because a twelve year olds mind tends to wander frequently. While my parents were talking to their Georgian friends at the dinner table, I was thinking of all the better things I could be doing at that time.

challenges with leadership

Tagged:  •    •    •    •    •    •    •    •

I'm currently a Team Leader at a smoothie corporation called Jamba Juice, and a challenge that i faced was creating a sense of authority. I am 5'2" and can have a very sweet disposition, which does not easily allow for an authoritative presense. However, i refused to be the type of manager who used fear and anger to get my point across.

What is more dangerous that that which we cannot see, cannot feel, and are unable to control? Events occur all around us, but it is the simplistic actions of people around us that are possibly the greatest determining factor of our view on life. So think of those around you and who you have touched. Has your mark gone unnoticed to you when it has been left within someone's heart?
