I am attending college in New Orleans. Although I enjoy the college I am going to, I find that the area has a severe poverty level. There are over two hundred people living under a via duct. Yesterday, Bill Clinton made a five-town tour of West Virginia with the goal being to sway our vote in the primary next week. When Kennedy ran, he spoke in West virginia right before the primary, and managed to get our vote, which turns out made him the democratic candidate. Imagine my surprise upon waking up today to see an interesting concept in the news: cell phone alerts for natural disasters, terrorist attacks, and any other event that state or local government might see fit. The premise is simple, if something of importance occurs, the nation or region is alerted via a text message. I for one am in favor of the idea.  Read More »
