This blog post will not be a manifesto; I will not just spout political ideology. I'm sure we've all become somewhat weary of that.

This blog is about something that's been bothering me for awhile as I've “come of age” politically, so to say. A short time ago, I saw in the Op-Ed section of the New York Times a column by Bob Herbert which lampooned conservatives. Obviously, that's not my issue here; criticism of other people's political ideas is of paramount importance in a democracy. My problem with Herbert's column was his attempt to link conservatism with past evils of America, such as segregation or denying women the right to vote.  Read More »

I've said repeatedly that I'm going to vote for John McCain next week. But despite the imperturbable political front I've displayed for the past few months, there's been a sort of political panic in my mind. John McCain is not the candidate he used to be. Democrats make fun of his use of the word "maverick," but he really was a maverick once upon a time. Now, it seems that's not as true anymore. I am a Republican, and I am a moderate, too. How ridiculous is it that our country and our country’s highest court just upheld a law that is centuries out of date? I move to repeal the right to bear arms from the U.S. Constitution because it is outdated, dangerous and a threat to the future of this country.  Read More »

The paleoconservatives are members of a dying breed. Although the term itself is probably only a couple decades old, the ideology behind it is older than America, and nearly all of our Founding Fathers adhered to its tenets. They believed that government had no business meddling in the affairs of the private citizen or the free market.  Read More »

I will admit I am not even remotely conservative in anything I do. I have no qualms talking about sex. And I’ll be damned if I’m shushed for having an intelligent discussion about drugs. The United States of America is at a breaking point. Under the Bush Administration, the federal debt has grown by a whopping 61%, a shocking $3.5 trillion increase from an already frightening $5.7 trillion debt to a disgustingly high $9.2 trillion. This puts the nation in a downright perilous situation.  Read More »
