Congratulations to all -- Updated

The Fall 2006 Blogging for Progress competition has now ended.  We took a snapshot of the database at 12 noon PST today, and we will be checking the results, adding appropriate bonus points, and contacting potential winners over the next few days.  It normally takes about one week for this process to be completed, so look for an announcement of the winners early next week.

We know there has been a lot of tension the last couple of weeks, but we hope you will all step back and take a moment to reflect on your accomplishments.  Here are some quick statistics.  In two short months, ProgressiveU bloggers:  Read More »

Leader board, point totals

Three of the most common questions that we get asked during the Blogging for Progress Scholarship contests are: "How many points do I have?," "Where do I stand?," and "Who is winning?"  Well, here are some partial answers to your questions.

We are just under one month into the contest, and things are still very close; nobody is way out in front, and at least two dozen of you are within striking distance of the lead.  Here are the top ten scorers as of October 30, in alphabetical order:  Read More »

We've moved!

If you are seeing this page, you've made it to the site on our new servers. It has been a long time coming, but hopefully pages that fail to load, login problems, and double posts are a thing of the past.

Now that the hard part is done, we will be rolling out several great new features in the coming weeks.

Thanks again for your patience, and stay tuned for more good things to come!

Progressive U News

It's been extremely busy at Progressive U the last few weeks, in more ways than one. Just a few quick notes from the team:

  • Traffic to the website is soaring.  The good news is that this ultimately means more exposure for your blogs. It also means a lot of work for us and our webmasters trying to keep up with server and bandwidth needs.  We are making progress though, and you should see continual improvements over the next couple weeks.
  • We intended to announce the winner of the April "Why Blog?" mini-contest on May 5.  We were overwhelmed by the response, and with our chief judge in finals herself until May 4 we didn't get the announcement out last week.  However, we have now chosen a winner, and will be announcing the winner later this week.  Stay tuned!
  • We've been getting lots of great questions.  We will have an updated FAQ with answers to many of your questions next week.
  • We'll also post an updated leader board next week listing this semester's Blogging for Progress leaders.

Thanks for all the great blogs.  Keep up the great work!  Read More »

"Fair trade" not "free trade" -- the Citizen Trade Campaign

Tagged:

Just received this from Laura at the Citizen Trade Campaign.  Looks like an informative site, with ideas on how we can move from "free trade" to "fair trade."

-------------------
Hi ProgressiveU,
I work with Citizens Trade Campaign and we are actively following the Peru/Andean Free Trade Agreement, among others.  Our website is www.citizenstrade.org.  We have recently released an action alert encouraging fair trade activists to call their representative to oppose another NAFTA/CAFTA model.  Read More »
