Subject: Re: finding truth
Hello,
I saw your email today. Here's a quick response:
I do not truly agree on everything that you listed at the top of your e-mail.
"1. Any type of ridicule of any person for any reason is unacceptable"
- I feel that any hatred or discrimination toward someone for their immutable characteristics (skin color, sex, sexual orientation (see APA.org) etc.) is unacceptable.
And
- Any hatred or discrimination toward a person who is harming no one is unacceptable.
"2. Jesus loves everyone!"
- In truth, this cannot be proven, it is just a notion of one religion.
"3. We both seek the truth!"
- Yes
"You asked a lot of questions about God and Jesus. I would ask you what you have read or understand about these topics."
I have read the bible more than most anyone that I know. I have written research papers on it and debated on topics for years. I also taken the time to research Buddhism, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, and even a few of the 1,000's of tertiary religions that people dedicate their lives to. Since the religion you follow really depends on where you were born and who raised you.
Since I have read about all of these religions and teachings, and questioned what I have been taught, and read up on scientific findings and religious discrepancies, I cannot say that any one religion is correct. Nor can I say that there has to be a god. Additionally, if there is a god, I highly doubt that any one religion has it right or that any person could even comprehend such a highly complex entity.
I'm not sure if you know the scientifically proven stand on sexuality, but being a homosexual is not a choice (see the American Psychological Association APA.org, the largest and most reputable of its kind in the world). In fact, sexuality tends to run on a continuum from 100% heterosexual to 100% homosexual. Each individual can land anywhere on that line. Also, even though I'm not religious, I do know that the bible never actually condemns consensual homosexual relationships/acts. It's just that most people never take the time to read the bible and understand the Latin (mis)translations.
"Here is a “truth” for you to think about. The physical body parts of two women in a sexual act or two men in a sexual act don’t fit together. A man and a woman’s body physically fit together for the sex act. This shows the “truth” of nature. Homosexual activities force body parts together in an unnatural way."
- People can love each other and spend their lives together in love, peace, harmony and happiness without having to procreate. It doesn't matter what 'equipment' is in-between your legs. Marriage wasn't created for the sake of making babies, or else we would not let sterile people get married, or the elderly. In fact, many people who do marry do not even plan to have kids.
Additionally, "the truth of nature" is that animals of almost every species have been documented as being homosexual.
"No species has been found in which homosexual behaviour has not been shown to exist, with the exception of species that never have sex at all, such as sea urchins and aphids. Moreover, a part of the animal kingdom is hermaphroditic, truly bisexual. For them, homosexuality is not an issue."
—Petter Bøckman, biologist

So from this list, if you do believe in a god, then you must believe that his plan did include homosexual creations.
"Here is another “truth”. God made us with a longing for Him. Know God know peace. No God no peace."
- How can you prove this? Is this not just a religious teaching that you were told?
"I am praying for you and Kyle!"
I respect you and your beliefs, but Kyle and I are incredibly happy. We plan to spend the rest of our lives together, and hopefully get a puppy soon... and eventually we may adopt. Once we are allowed to get married, we certainly will at a courthouse so that we can get the 1,000+ rights that everyone else is allotted via marriage. If you are praying for us, I hope you are praying for the success of our relationship and that we continue to be happy together as a loving, honest, moral, and kind gay couple.
Happy Halloween!
David
