The Balloon Boy Hoax, Media Whores, & Other Things

First off, my log in hasn't worked for a very long time, so I apologize for not being active the past few months. Secondly, the United States as a whole has changed a lot since my last time updating here, and I can't be certain if the change has been good or bad.

First off, this whole "balloon boy" hoax shows what really is wrong with America today. We are living in a society of media whores. This Heene family wasted every Americans' tax dollars by sending a search and rescue team on a wild goose chase to nowhere. This needs to be banned and everyone involved (including the children) need to be held responsible for it. We live in a society where we are worrying more about Jon & Kate than feeding our homeless or trying to help those in need.

Why do we have all these pointless reality shows when we have real problems to worry about. People wonder why Americans get so much flack and so much ridicule, it is because we are worrying about trivial, meaningless things rather than focusing on things that will help us out. Do you really wonder why we are so far in debt? It's mainly because we are spending so much money on gossip magazines and 500 TV channels and not able to pay for it in the end.

Sure, we might think it is boring that our parents grew up with only three television channels, but they found fun elsewhere. They went out and went on real adventures. Our adventures today consists of seeing what "King" Spencer Pratt is up to now. And we even complain about being bored with over 500 TV channels and nothing to watch. But do we go out and create adventure? No, we eat or complain until the sun goes down.

It might sound like I'm ranting, and complaining, and I am. It seems right now we as Americans are too idiotic to change our ways. And our current President's campaign was about change and that "YES WE CAN"...but he is only one man. We have to be willing to change for anything to happen. And I believe that we are too stubborn to really make the first move. But we are the ones that have to.

I've been feeling like this for a long time, and its a treasure to find someone who feels this way as well.

If TV (and Internet, I might add) weren't the only entertainment options of the day when our parents were kids, we must figure that there are other ways to occupy our time. People probably laugh at me when I say "get a hobby". Hobbies seem so outdated I guess, especially with the advent of Youtube and Facebook to occupy many hours of life.
