Language

When speaking about language, English wasn’t my primary language. My primary language was Chinese. As a young boy, I was taught to communicate with others using Chinese. I think Chinese is a difficult language to learn because there are many words that can have different translations. Some of the words that sound similar could represent something else. The Chinese name, Wong sounds exactly like the color yellow in Chinese. Another example is sugar, which is pronounced as tong in Chinese and the name, Tong. Some words that sound similar not just have different meanings, but are also written differently.
If a man writes a letter to someone, he would need to double check his grammar before sending the letter because there are lots of complicated words. It may take a very long time for a person to learn to speak and write Chinese. When I first began learning my own language, numbers were the easiest words for me to understand and memorize. Numbers are easier to understand because the words are less complicated than most words. I would have to say that speaking Chinese is much easier to learn than writing Chinese. Chinese consists of dialects such as Cantonese and Mandarin. Some people who speak fluent Cantonese could not speak Mandarin. Other people may be fluent to both Cantonese and Mandarin.
