On October 15th, 2009, ProgressiveU will, as in previous years, participate in Blog Action Day. For those of you new to the site, Blog Action Day is an annual event that challenges bloggers from across the world to write about the same issue on the same day in an effort to raise awareness and spark a global discussion about the issue.
This year, the Blog Action Day topic is Climate Change. We would like to challenge each and every one of you to participate. And we have good news for you!
The ProgressiveU team will review all Blog Action Day entries posted on the 15th of October. We will then select the best two and will make a $25.00 donation to the environmental organization of the winner's choice. Of course, there are a few rules!
1. Blog entries must be original. They cannot have been previously published elsewhere. Additionally, entries must be creative, and focus on climate change in some way (what way is completely up to you).
2. Entries containing plagiarism, even unintentional, will be disqualified. If you use another source, you must cite and/or link that source.
3. Entries must be at least 200 words in length.
4. Entries must adhere to the ProgressiveU Terms of Service and other official policies (Editorial Policies, Personal Attack Guidelines, etc).
5. Entries must be posted no later than 11:59pm PT on October 15th, 2009.
6. Entries must contain a link to Blog Action Day at the bottom of the post. {a href="http://blogactionday.org"} Blog Action Day {/a}. Replace the brackets posted here with < These >.
7. The entry must contain the name of and link to the organization you're writing for (the organization you want to have the donation made too) at the bottom.
8. Environmental Organizations chosen by the winners must have or currently be seeking 501(c)3 non-profit status.
9. You may write more than one entry, however, only one entry will be considered during judging.
Fairly simple, right?
The ProgressiveU Team will judge entries based upon their originality, creativity, and the approach to the Climate Change topic. Additionally, posts that do not adhere to these rules will not be considered.
Any questions can be posted as comments to this entry or can be emailed to Fallon at fallon@progressiveu.org or Chelle at mvenus929@progressiveu.org
We look forward to reading your entries and wish each of you the best of luck!
Cheers,
The ProgressiveU Team

Can Faculty Members participate? Even if it's not entered into the competition, I might want to write a blog for the day to keep with the theme and hopefully spark some discussion.
Absolutely. We'll have to see if it's entered into the competition, but you can absolutely write a blog for the day :)
