Extra Money: A Public Service Announcement

Since we have so many new people on the site, and many were brought to the site with thoughts of a scholarship in mind, we wanted to emphasize some little known features on our site.

Namely, a service called TipJoy. This service, which is free to sign up for, allows users to 'tip' articles that they find interesting or stimulating (or whatever other criteria you want to use). The tips can range anywhere from 10 cents up to several dollars.

What does this mean for you? Well, even if we aren't having a competition at present, you can still blog to earn a little money. Granted, it probably won't be much, but the more people who use the service, the more likely people are to tip. Several staff members have already set aside some of their own finances to tip excellent blogs, but few people participate in the service.

How do you sign up? Well, if you click on the link on your right that reads 'My account', and then select the 'edit' tab, you can scroll down to the tipjoy section. There will be a space for you to fill out your TipJoy username, and a link to sign up if you haven't already. The TipJoy button will then show up on all your future posts, so long as you don't unselect the box when writing your blog.

Pretty easy, eh?

Since we are also in need of funds ourselves, we want to remind everyone to please use www.goodsearch.com to search the web, after selecting ProgressiveU as your charity. About one cent from every search you do will get forwarded to us. We have two months left before the account closes for the year, so now is the best time to get started. We want to get enough to at least attempt to restart the scholarship program.
