When his wing is bruised and his bosom sore-
When he beats his bars and he would be free;
It is not a carol of joy or glee,
But a prayer that he sends from his heart's deep core,
But a plea, that upward to heaven he flings-
I know why the caged bird sings!
By Paul Lawrence Dunbar
I'm sure that the majority of people would agree that animal cruelty is not acceptable. However, we may unknowingly support animal cruelty. This may be buying tickets to performances that involve the use of animal to perform trick. Example of this can be the circus.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animal(PETA)'s investigator found at Tiger's Eye Productions, a circus training school in Florida, that big cats are "dragged around on chains, hit with broom handles and fists, slapped and punched across the face, and having ax handles shoved down their throats" (Newkirk, 1999, You can Save the Animal). A Russian women that run a bear act was asked how she treat the bear they use. The Russian women reply with great charm that there was a mother-child relationship. It was love that bond them. However, the ringmaster say that the love was bond by an iron bar that never leaves her hand. Ringmaster said "one of her assistants mouthed off at her a few weeks ago and she knocked him out cold. No one messess with her". (Refer to Blackout comment on Tiger's Eye Productions and thank you)
Bobby Beronsini, ex-performer at Las Vagas also have family bond( father-children) with his orangutan. This was until a video recording capture Beronsini and his assistants secretly beating the animals with metal bar, pinching their shoulders, pulling their hair, and punching them in the face just before the orangutan were walked onstage. This occur every night, twice a night, for eight nights in a row.
Stop supporting or buying animal tested product is another great way to help. Product tested in animal does not alway meant that is good for human. It has been shown that certain chemicals that are lethal to human may not be lethal to other animal and vice versa.

...but I can't stand liars. The charges against Tiger's Eye Productions you mention in your blog were investigated, and found to be false...
Once an organization is caught lying in something like this, its hard to take their other charges seriously. PETA has a history of dishonesty and overreaction which unfortunately overshadows any good which the organization might otherwise be able to accomplish if it weren't so hysterical.

but I do not like their almost fanatic opposition to medical research. I don't support animal cruelty, but not all medical research involving animals is "cruel," and much of it has led to important medical breakthroughs that have saved millions of human lives.
"Ingrid Newkirk, the codirector of PETA has said that scientists who experiment on animals have been "lying and misleading the public" about the value of research on animals. She stated that the objective of PETA is to attack "the whole grubby system of biomedical research, because if you jeapardize an animal one iota [in doing research] ... you're doing something immoral. Even painless research is fascism..."

"O, I'm sorry you took that, -I meant that for the Devil, and you have stepped in and taken the blow. Don't get between me and the Devil, brother, and the you won't get hurt." --Billy Hibbard
