College....Economy

Why is it so freakin hard to find scholarships and grants?! I think that it is so ridiculous that people that dont really need them always get them. While families like mine that have 4 people in college still just suffer through getting accumulating loans and debts. UGH! Ridiculous! It makes me want to just forget about school altogether, but then I remember that you cant really get anywhere in this country without a college education. Oh man. Stress stress stress! GRRRRRR!!!! frustration. And why is college cost so high anyways?! Everyone knows that there is a recession going on but prices keep going up! Pretty soon we will all be living on the streets with no jobs and no food. :(
Which leads to my next question….. Will Obama fix this mess before it is too late? Or do you think the poverty in America ship has sailed so far that its too late for it to ever come back? Sometimes I cant help but think that we are all doomed beyond belief. Hopefully that isn’t true. But its definitely a possibility don’t you think? Okay well I’m done for now. More to come later! Have a great day everyone!

I really think that it is foolish to look at envy to those with while thinking that you are the only one in the 'where is all the money' boat. Those that look seek and find, Those that find, fill out, and are worthy get the goods before the whiners do.

As for your next question.... If people expect the president to fix all the woes then I seriously expect that "ship has sailed". I am pretty sure this country was founded on the hard work that people can doesspecially when free and working together. When we become lazy and dependant we deserve what is haded to us along with all the attatched strings.

You have done well and college is a very smart move that comes at a cost AND a reward. You will find something as long as you keep looking and keep doing the best you can. Try looking at your college's financial aid website or office, they usually have some pretty cool options that the whole word is not trying for. Places like Fastweb offer an overwhelming number of chances BUT everyone has them avaiable if they look so I could be tougher.

If the education was free and easy then the benefit would be voided.
Good Luck

I would, on a side note, like to see you address this scholarship thing more in depth and to offer some half way progressive suggestions for those in the same boat you are in. I also smell a interesting blog coming if you address those other questions you have and what you would suggest Pres. Obama do.

Looking forward to seeing you around more.

and welcome to ProgressiveU.org. This is a great community of high school students working towards college, college students, college graduates, and some just amazing people that have an interest in progressive thinking. There are people of all ages and generations on this site, with varying levels of education. You'll definitely get your money's worth here, especially since it is free. You also have a chance to meet some great people who can help you be a more effective student and competitor for scholarships.

I have to also second WhispersAwnesty regarding Fastweb. When I was thinking about going to college after high school the internet was not what it is now and no one in my home had a computer. I had to manually complete a FAFSA at the school's financial aid office to determine what kind of aid I was eligible for. All that came back was offers for student loans that my parents wouldn't cosign for. Fate led me to community college, which turned out to be a great deal. I got a lot for my own, hard-earned money.

Today, I am an adult student who re-entered college and I have found all kinds of opportunities on FastWeb. Youth have a great advantage these days, simply because technology links them to sources of information and funding. Good luck to you, and I hope you like it here :).

The cost of tuition keeps rising in part because of inflation, and in part because of the economic crisis that the whole nation faces. Budget problems and the resistance from taxpayers to shell out more are the primary reason. Public schools are being shut down all over the place, and in order to keep teachers on the payroll, tuition costs are rising.

if you want to know what Obama wants to do about it, you should know he is asking for your help, and is encouraging members of the community to stand up and do some footwork for the good of the country.
