Hello!
The volunteers we have now are top-notch - truly. So before I go any further, I would like to extend a tremendous kudos to Chelle, Fallon, and Reboloke for being as active as they are in helping me with this site. I'm no expert on site building - but they'll gladly tell you that they don't really understand the technicals that go into this site either - and yet despite our combined lack of expertise, Progressive U is entering its 4th year and continuing to grow at an alarming rate. We must be doing something right.
I'd also like to thank Blackout, Dragonwolf, Whispers Awnesty, Meke, Sawaboof, and Edible Woman for the tremendous work they've put in since officially joining our faculty. Turtlesuds, Bridge, and Asma also deserve thanks for the help they've provided even though they have not yet officially joined the faculty.
You probably know - we are always looking for great volunteers to help us in our efforts to improve the site and attend to any issues our members might bring up. As you can imagine, there is a lot of work involved in maintaining this site and keeping the peace - add in the work it takes to actually make improvements or add new features and there simply aren't enough minutes in the hour! And, let's face it, Progressive U is great at attracting writers - not so great at attracting the technically minded who specialize in not breaking the site. If I got a nickel for everytime I broke the site, I wouldn't be worried about my little job hunting failures, that's for sure.
Yet, somehow, we survive. But there is still a lot to be done. And we're running out of hands.
In fact, there are times when we're so busy, we can't seem to get in touch with people who've emailed us with interest in volunteering (mostly because the emails get buried behind everything else).
Hopefully, we've found a solution that will change all this. Now, if you'll look at your profile, you'll see a new link that reads "Apply for role". Clicking on this link will allow you to apply for the "mod" role - which will send a message to us that you're interested in volunteering to moderate the site (i.e., sifting through blogs and comments for abuses or TOS violations). Approving this application will take us just a click. From there, you can decide how involved you would like to be - whether you'd like to stick with moderating members' posts, or if you'd like to delve into testing out new features with me at our upgraded test site.
So - let's get working together to make this a better site :) If you've been a member for at least 4 months, we encourage you to apply for this volunteership. You can read more about the benefits of volunteering by reading through the section in the FAQ.

I hope you guys get some more volunteers thanks to this post. If I knew anything about site building and such, I'd be offering my services right away.
I wouldn't mind being a mod though. Hmmm. I'll think about it.
And thanks for fixing the rating system, Fanaile! I'm glad it's back and better than ever.
Aww :) You're welcome! I'm glad it's working well, and it seems as though people are using it!
As for the moderating, we hope you'll join us. (Honestly, even the testing isn't as technical as one would think. Mostly it's just joining our test site, which is set up to be a duplicate of this site with newer modules. Then you just tell me what's broken, lol).
Either way it's a fun experience!

Thank for the opportunity. I must have been one of the lost request bacause I have not heard anything about my request for almost two months.
I just volunteered to be a mod as you explain here. I have some knowledge of technical web building (a little out of date) and I am also a fast learner I would like to offer what little knowledge and help that I have to keep the site up and running. I am not one of the good writer that blog here and I think I would do better behind the scenes. If you can use me I am here.

Sorry... a lot of forms got lost because the site wasn't sending us e-mail notifications anymore, and checking them wasn't at the top of our list. :(

sorry. I've had more time lately to play, I just finished classes last week, and I am taking a break for the next term. I love this site, and am happy to help any way I can. I will click on that application right now.
I like working with the team here, they are great. Plus, i am trying to learn about how to run a website, so this is good experience for me.
If you like this post, please tip me. All tips will be forwarded to ProgressiveU.org. Keep the site alive!
