Why so silent, MSM? [Update: Links available]

It's been forever since I last posted on here, but in light of certain recent events, I need to boot up this site again.

Just this Wednesday on Countdown with Keith Olbermann, whistleblower and former NSA operative Russel Tice revealed that the NSA spied on average Americans, regardless of whether their calls were inter- or intranational, and singled out journalists in particular. Yesterday, Mr. Tice revealed that some tens of thousands of Americans were having their credit information tracked by the NSA. Given the magnitude of this story, I expected it to be all over the news.

Needless to say, I was proven horribly wrong.

For a large majority of, if not the entirety of, the former administration, the mainstream media has given the government a free pass as they shredded the Constitution under our noses in almost every sense of the phrase except the literal one. Now, it's entirely possible that the aforementioned story is the reason for their silence and compliance; skeletons in closets are nasty things that could damage a career irrepairably. But even with that caveat, doesn't the media have a responsibility-if not to the viewers or the country, then to themselves-to report this kind of thing? What could possibly be the reason that no one else will touch this story?

While some of the details are hazy, considering the concerns of national security and Mr. Tice's level of security clearance, the basics are crystal clear and the lack of reporting on this story is infuriating. The media needs to wake up and start doing its job again; we can't afford another period of free passes from them.

Welcome back. I agree that the media needs to wake up and report. I do not want to read another story about how great Obama is and I would like to hear more about the other news that is happening. We have a governor that is suing to get out of his impeachment. Few people are talking about that. We had a story about the church that Palin was a member that was set on fire but the mainstream media made it Palin's fault for her stance in the election. How are the actions of the people who set her church on fire her fault? There are a lot of stories that I could tell you about the media not doing there jobs at all or half hearted but I just do not have the time right now thank you for your blog.
