The Free Market is Dead! Onward Socialist Soldiers!

Victory! Triumph in the streets! The United States media declares that the free market is dead and that capitalism is among its last breaths. The free market has been given its chance and has failed the American people with its greed and financial failure. Look at how the economy has failed and that we are nearing the same situation of the Great Depression. But have no fear! With the free market dead, now Barack Obama can finish what FDR set out to do - make America and socialism embrace.

Recently, I have lost much of the hope I once had for the American governmental system. The Democratic Republic has thrown aside the importance of having educated elected officials representing the best interests of the people and now, it seems that the people, led by the fearless media, have taken control of the government agenda. In this recent economic downturn, if not depression, the American people and government has had to come to terms with a scenario of great national debt, a sick market where the people are afraid to spend, and terrible loss of employment. Once the great fall of the globalized American economy occurred, it was time for blame to be dealt. The radical economic liberals, socialists, and communists that have lurked in the shadows ever since Reagan's triumphs have come out and now struck exactly when the American people is most gullible and they have used the growing liberal pet, the American media, to achieve there success. As a result, arguably the most radical president-elect in American history is preparing to take office, Congress is now in the hands of the bigot Nancy Pelosi and the liberals, and popular support for the Democratic Party is unprecedented.

Soon, Barack Obama and the new Democratic party will make their move on the american economy. Their plan is to seize the economy by force and place it firmly under the control of the American government. Bailouts will be distributed, economic stimuli will flow freely, and even tax breaks will occur, all without the question of where the money is coming from. Beyond this, the government will spend billions, and eventually trillions to do what they see fit with the market and the American system while our national debt, the small, unimportant number that has only caused a massive credit crisis and kill the American dollar, will grow exponentially.

But obviously this is the right approach, since the free market failed, correct? Unfortunately, this is now the right approach and the socialist controlled market agenda will lead America down the road to serfdom like the great economist Frederick Hayek warned during the last great depression. The problem is that the American people, the same ones who elected Barack Obama and a Democratic Congress, does not realize that America has never had a free market. "But under Bush the government did nothing and now look what has happened." This is incorrect - the Bush administration continued the practice of government intervention established by FDR and Jimmy Carter, seen in the government investment in alternative energy, the government attempt to control and back mortgages (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac), and the bailouts supported by Bush for the financial markets. the Reagan, Clinton, and Bush economies were never free market.
So far the free market hasn't failed America because its never been used. What we need now is to end the government intervention and let the market fix itself and thrive, like what should have happened during the 1930's if FDR hadn't implemented the New Deal. We need freedom now more than ever in our economy to restore America to the prosperity it enjoyed at and soon after its creation as a free nation. The Free Market is not dead and will be alive if only the people of the United States can realize this. Unfortunately, with the liberal hordes in full grasp of the media and now the government, the propaganda of a "dead free market" most likely can't be stopped. America's next stop - serfdom.

I almost did not read it because of the title. I figured it was just something that would make my blood boil. But you surprised me.

Obama has now told us that he plans to run trillion dollar budget deficits for the foreseeable future. This is going to be a catastrophe because for the first time in our history our total national debt exceeds the TOTAL net household wealth of the American people. And now the plan is to fire up the printing presses to full speed and make that situtation even worse. The only alternative will be to inflate the resulting debt out of existence and the rest of the world is going to figure that out pretty damn fast and start dumping dollars which will be like pouring gasoline on the problem.

If you hold any dollars or dollar denominated assets, it is time to dump them because they are going to be inflated out of existence. I lived through the 1970s and I remember what inflation was like. It is time to turn anything that is paper into real tangible assets that have intrinsic value separate and independent from dollars which are soon going to be headed down the toilet. Real estate at current depressed prices looks like a good deal. Part of your wealth should probably be in gold.

We are in for some change that we can believe in and it is going to be pretty unbelievably bad. I pity anybody living on a fixed income and wage earners are not going to be much better off. Government workers will probably be better taken care of than most.

Very good blog. The only thing I would like to point out is the fact that liberals have been twisting history to show that FDR brought us out of the great depression this is false beyond anything I have ever heard in my life.

The saddest thing is that Obama will not look at history and see that his plan will hurt us. All he has to do is look to the 70's and see that his ideas will we not work. If he would look to the 30's he will see that his ideas will not work. It is upsetting that he will not do what is needed because he does not want to be a turn coat and hated by those that helped him get into power.

Maybe some good can come from all this. without Carter Reagan would not have won by the great numbers that he did. Maybe after Americans see how bad a job that the liberals do they will turn on them and conservatism will take control and with any luck they will not become corrupted and lose focus. I hope for the best but I plan for the worst that way I am prepared.

Thank you for the blog seeing a non liberal blog on ProgressiveU is rare.

Thanks for the support. Two friendly comments from fellow non-liberals is a record for me. You are completely right about FDR and its glad to see that you are more informed than millions of fellow Americans. Unfortunately, even if Obama does cause a Reagan type election in coming years, I fear that the restrictions and government overview of the economy he will implement will be irreversible, just like a great deal of FDR's legislation has carried no for decades. If you want, check out this great article on FDR's policies and also the blog I made about the article. - Thanks

With any luck the GOP will take the senate in two years and stop the insanity. It is to bad that we would have to wait that two years. There is a lot of damage that Obama and the liberals can do in two years.
