unbelievable - I'm fed up with this scholarship competition

blog_princess09's picture

I worked for hours this month on this website, making blogs that I could care less about most of the time, for a scholarship that is only worth, what $1000? I can get more than that in the state scholarship I've earned already! I posted nearly 10 blogs the other night in an attempt to put in all of the blogs that I wrote during the time I had no internet connection. I spent my time at friends' houses, the library, and whatever chance I can get on my mom's computer to post these blogs because I'm poor and can't afford a good internet connection to my house. I made a mistake in posting the wrong date on these 10 blogs, instead of 08 I said 05, so the moderator thought they were old. Even after reading that message and fixing the problem, they were deleted anyway. Why should I even keep trying if all of my posts are going to be deleted anyway? After this blog, I can say I'm done with Progressive U. I thought it was going to be a great way to earn a scholarship, but now I feel as if I have wasted too much time trying.

I know it may seem frusterating, but the blogs may have been deleted becuase you posted too many in too short of a time. Check with a moderator to be sure. I understand your problem with the internet connection, but it probably would have been a better idea to wait a day or two, or even a few hours between posting each blog. Don't give up yet, maybe spend the rest of this competition reading other blogs and commenting on them so you get a hang of the site and then you can enter again next competition which I believe starts in January.

If the monetary prize seems little to you, why don't you look at it this way, you're gaining perspective and ideas and information from other people that you might not get in your day to day life.

I blogged only about 2 pages this competition and had about 7-8 pages in 2007 (but then I left), I am not doing it for the money but just here because it really is a better use of my time than me watching tons of kdrama to eat up my time, although I do love kdrama and jdorama ;)

*Sigh* I guess they were not deleted then huh? I would always suggest speaking with the moderator that contacted you and keep the lines of communication with that mod open. Next time instead of taking your disgruntled act public, try PM with the particular moderator for further info and clarification...

Also, stop posting a bunch of blogs at once. When you dump like that you push blogs that actually say something off the recent post list. It also loses you a following because the biggest part of this contest is reads and comments and people tend to ignore people who post so arrogantly. In your own words "making blogs that I could care less about most of the time" is also a waste of our time and many ProUers will skip right over them thus loosing you the competition.

Just a friendly reminder: our Progressive Principles: Broad Prosperity, Shared Responsibility, Effective Government, Personal Freedom, and Better Future. According to the rules of the Blogging for Progress Scholarship Competition, your blog must be considered 'progressive' by one of these five things. Of course, we take a rather broad view of things, and in general, if we consider something working towards progress, it will be considered towards the competition. Please tag appropriately.

Love is like a box of chocolates; if you chose wisely you won’t be disappointed and have to spit it out. ~T

Yeah that was obvious... you do know the scholarship was for $1500, right? I was just reading back over this and noticed what you said about the amount.

Good Luck in your school endevours.

By the way, I've been reading several of the blogs you've posted and they are really good. I think you're getting the hang of the site. However, whispers awnesty isn't lying, posting too many blogs at once gets people annoyed with you and can lose you readers. Good luck with the next competition.

For this site to be progressive, we have to share our opinions and ideas on things that are discussed that might not be written by us but affect us nonetheless.

Other than that, I agree with your comment completely.
