Busy is the word for the week. Broke is also the word. Bankrupt. Any word that begins with a B, I suppose.
If there are any 15 or 16 year olds out there thinking of buying a car, do yourself a favor and DON'T! It may be painful to ride the loser cruiser but don't put yourself through the aggravation of owning a car.
Why all this unexpected negativity toward automobiles?
Last week I needed an inspection for my car. I took it over to a friendly mechanic and went home thinking it would be a routine inspection.
I was wrong.
They call me an hour later, and tell me I need new front and rear brakes, new front rotors, and new suspension links.
I own a used car. A '93 Chevy, at that. Please don't laugh at me. I hear enough laughter from my friends.
All of this work combined with inspection and emissions came to $500. Needless to say I was a little short. I'm trying to be as frugal as possible and saving my money so I can pay my grandma back the $300 I owe her. Don't even ask how I'll pay for college. I'll need to save every dime.
Moral of the story: Don't get a car unless your parents are paying or the car is free. Not worth the cost of gas, insurance, routine inspections, etc. Wait until you have at least 3 grand or so to buy a good used car.
School starts this week and my job decided to schedule me 25+ hours. So it'll be school then work at 3:30. I also need to finish college applications, which I haven't even really started, to be honest. That includes the application essays. It's going to be so fun, let me tell you. I really need to work on not procrastinating. It's not healthy.
Oh, yeah and gas prices are ridiculous!
