Purging of information from records - why does it take so long?

There are many people in this country that have offenses in their criminal history that takes forever to get purged from their records. There are conferences, forums and fairs held in some major cities each year to assist or advise individuals with ways and means to get these items purged from their records. Every person with criminal information on their records are not guilty of these crimes nor were every convicted. However, in criminal background checks these incidents occur and have prevented some from becoming employed. In other cases, a number of years have passed and the law allows for certain criminal incidents to be purged from their records. As a result, people want to try and get these incidents removed from their criminal records and make way for more opportunities to become employed.

The process can be time consuming and confusing for those seeking to get allowable offenses purged from their records. They have found the process long and frustrating. In many cases, people have given up on trying to get these offenses removed. In addition, the process can be costly for those who cannot afford to hire attorneys to handle the paperwork and filings that are required.

I am aware that we have many employment sectors that have employed people regardless of their background checks, both in the white and blue collar sector. However, there are people who are willing to work and may have changed from behaviors that occurred in their youth and early on in their 20s. In some cases, people ended up at the wrong place, at the wrong time and as a consequence have a criminal offense on his or her record that has prevented them from furthering their education or getting employment.

I am hopeful that the process and number of people willing to assist those seeking this type of assistance will be more accessible, easier to accomplish and simply easiest for any person to handle themselves. Sometimes, the language can be more confusing than necessary, which makes it easier for a person to require the services of an attorney, when they could have handled it themselves, if the language was simple and concise.

I hope that future opportunities to get allowable offenses purged from criminal records will be quicker, easier and simple to do. I know the job market is tough right now. But, having the ability to get any offense purged that is allowable by law should be easier to do for any person that seeks to have this chance.

Most of the crimes are misdenmeanors?
and not a big deal.
