It's time to get stupid. I have a pointless blog entry tonight, but I'm feeling a little stupid, and perhaps Cupid has paid me a little visit tonight, so who cares?
I have a simple question for the guys and girls out there. Rachel Maddow is a total cutie pie. She has a very pretty face, cute hair, and a nice smile. I like her crooked smile and her personality which is affable and (unlike some) seldom alienating or abbrasive. Her brain adds to her appeal, and I can say this as a guy who admires a brain girls just as much as physical beauty. One contributes to the other in an endless cycle of enrichment (provided both attributes exist). My question is this: would you? "Would I WHAT?" comes the inevitable response. YOU know just what I mean!
In watching her show on a fairly irregular basis, I still find myself consistently noticing another side of her. This side is one that does little to diminish her cutness or appeal, but also acknowledges that she is very gay, and that, yet again, I find myself looking at an attractive gay woman who, by virtue of an almost nebulous, unknowable, indescribable quality, keeps my interest in her at a level that is almost wholly asexual. Her (almost but not quite) demeanor and these other nebulous qualities (some have said they are masculine) leave me with the feeling that my situation and appreciation for her is akin to appreacting the beauty of a rose, but not acting on it in the way I might with another beautiful (straight) girl.
Her progressivness and wit notwithstanding, this is a girl I'd probably think was attractive if I passed her on the street. However, even in this situation, I can still imagine myself, if I were so lucky, not being able to "act" if the situation were to present itself. Same deal with Anne Heche. Cute, but us guys seem to often detect a strain that tells us "don't act on it." My question remains: what do the other guys and girls on progressiveu think of Rachel?

Yes. And so do I! Don't forget her liberal talk radio show, which still airs! I used to catch her on Air America Radio here in California between Randi Rhoads and Majority Report.
I had been listening to her radio show for a while before she got the MSNBC gig, and I pictured her as an overweight, middle aged woman with gray streaks in her hair. I don't know why. I loved her brain anyway, don't get me wrong, but it's not quite as fantastic as it is WITH the visual.
And she's been good for me. I don't have cable, but the gym does, so now I go in the evenings to watch Rachel.

Give her a shot on MSNBC or listen to her radio show. I rarely watch TV either. But my sister insisted I give her a shot and I constantly find my liberal parents watching either her or Keith Olberman every weeknight. Once I see either of them, I'm consistently hooked for the remainder of the hour! She's also adorable.
Definitely uhmm maybe.

She has a sexy brain. She is a Rhodes scholar with acerbic wit and an adorable smirk. I am smitten. Too bad we're both hitched. And unlikely to ever meet. But I have to say, I think a meeting of our minds would be HOT!

I like this girl alot. I dont think she's that physically attractive, and her quirkiness is enjoyed up until a point... but over all (esp her brain, capability to reason rationally, relatability, and the simplicity of her reporting) I think she's pretty freakin' awesome... I watch MSNBC more because of her and quote her often.
BTW did you see her black and white cover of The Advocate a few months back? Smokin' The article talks a bit about how she's not crazy about the makeup and primping that goes along with TV (she used to host a radio show exclusively). But if you search for some images of her then, the hair, wardrobe, and make up is much a plus.
