Understanding our Economy

During economic crises of such magnitude, it is imperative that we understand our current system of banking and finance. Such basic understanding is necessary in order to assess the impact that different fiscal, monetary, and economic policies have on civil rights, the environment, national security, and any other "issue". Having viewed Chris Martenson's Crash Course (http://www.chrismartenson.com/crashcourse), I can finally claim to have an elementary understanding of our economy. Not only that, but this information has influenced how I view the world and what I want to do with my life. It's rather scary to consider the implications suggested by the facts and information presented; yet, I feel that any discussion, from politics to the environment, requires familiarity with the concepts explained by the Crash Course.

The beauty of the Crash Course is that it isn't another Zeitgeist, Loose Change -esque conspiracy theory. I would like to initiative some conversation here about the economy, energy, and the environment, as well as discuss reactions to the crash course. Working towards progress is the foundation of ProgressiveU. However, now more than ever, we must be aware of the foundation we are working from, in order to ensure that our work towards a better future not be done in vain.
