Would you rather settle for the minimum wage as it is or consider a lower wage for your labor and have some benefits such as free housing, feeding at work and probably free transportation to and fro the work place.
The minimum wage over the years since 1938 has been raised several times and by 1998, it was already $6.92 per hour. Organizations and small businesses have been on the case of minimum wage claiming it would cause unemployment; maybe another way of saying we will not pay so much. Some even claim that many of the workers are teenagers who need the work to get into the labor force and moreover, they do not have many responsibilities ( if they can be sure of that)
Recently, I have noticed that some of these business have devised another means of paying minimum wage and yet being legal. For instance as at January this year, the minimum wage for California was $8:00 and an employer pay $6.25 to his workers in exchange of free meal at work and free accommodation.
The question now is, would you rather settle for the compromise or have your wage being paid to you fully while you handle your bills?
This still remains controversial but I think I will prefer my minimum wage while I take care of my bills myself.

I think it would depend on the individual and their current situation, but i would prefer the minium wage.
but some people ,i know, would enjoy the free meal and accomadation i.e. if they didn't like too cook, and if they didn't have means of transportation.
I think it also depend on the state u are, for instance, someone in maine can prefer the benefits to minimun wage and the person in california the opposite, anyway, i feel u are right, it varies. individual condition can make one settle for the benefit even t a high minimum wage.
