Sex in America-Out of Sight Out of Mind?

So I have been reading all these blogs about abortion, when I had a light-bulb moment. Digging down to the core of this issue I believe is sex in America. Ok, let us all backtrack for a moment here. We have all had sex education and were all preached to about abstinence. However, in the very same breath we are being told to have safe sex and to be regularly checked. America is sending mixed signal to the youth of this nation. We see on t.v., movies, advertisements; images that promote sex as an acceptable issue in society. Yet we talk of abstinence and safe sex. So which is it? Are we as a nation trying to project this image to the world that we are all about abstinence, when really behind close doors we are showing advertisements for Playboy and going to the health clinic to get condoms. We have a out of sight, out of mind philosophy here in America. We don't like to talk about the issue of sexuality, but when it comes up, this nation tries to act they are all about abstinence and in the same breath, showing you a porno. Now, I am not saying that people shouldn't be having sex or anything of that sort. I am simply saying that as a nation, we shouldn't go around "parading" acting as if we are the best government out there, when we are so hypocritical on issues such as this.

as it is a "do as I say, not as I do" thing. Parents who themselves were not pro-abstinance turn around and become pro-abstinance when they have kids. What disturbs me most is the politicians who champion the cause of "abstinance only education" knowing full well it is doomed to failure.

John Connelly here - it's more of a "do as I say and not what I do" thing, however, no matter which way it is, it doens't work!
Insanity=Doing the same thing again and again expecting different results. Our politicians and education system.
