Congressional Leaders: Their New Effectiveness

While I should be up and giddy for the new Congress, and even better the new leaders Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, I can't help but feel a sign of lachrymose and insecurity of their newly appointed powers.

The United States, in its current state, NEED urgently a set up of new systems, new ways, and new ideals a better and brighter future. However, the past eight years that the Republicans have held the power, they did what was best for their party, rather than what was best for their country. Pelosi and Reid have the ability to be a supreme dominating duo, but they also have the power to leave the American people left to slaughter. While change is going to be evident - Democrats in Congress as well as Obama being elected - we as the American people can only hope that this new change is going to be for US, rather than that of the Democrats.

Basically stated in this idea, we do have good people as our congressional leaders, but the power they posses could easily corrupt them to help and support the Democrats. We are a nation of Democrats and Republicans, as well as various third parties, that need support. If all Pelosi and Reid do is work for the power of the Democrats, then you're leaving out half of our nation to fend for themselves. The hustle and bustle of this year's election has been a shattering one, and while most people were excited about finally getting Bush out of office, they may have forgotten all about Congress. While a president is great and all, we do need to realize he is not the MAIN power of the United States, but only 1/3 of the system's power.

I only hope that the people of the United States were doing in the whole election, rather than just an ideal of who should how the title of president.

I have yet to be proven wrong in my hope that Obama will try to be a President for everyone, not just Democrats. But truly, Republicans/third party supporters don't ever have to fend for themselves because in actuality the changes put through by Congress and the President never have the clause *only for D/R. When Congress puts a moratorium on home foreclosures, Democrats and Republicans will benefit.
