It is truly sad when someone is put to this decision because the price of an education is so high. I am one of the non-traditional students that went back to school after my child was born to make a better life for the two of us. Unfortunately 3 years into my college education I had exhausted my options of Grants, and scholarships and had no degree to show for it. I am not in the financial position to take out a loan to pay for my own education and now as my child is in the third grade I am thinking about how I am going to finance her education as well. In today's society in order to make a good amount of money you must be highly educated which is a catch 22 because if you are not highly educated you don't make the money & if you don't make the money to pay for college you never will be able to advance in your career. Meaning you do not make the money to then one day finance your child's education and they start on the same downward spiral that you followed. This only leaves them frustrated, depressed, and not feeling so great about themselves. I know everyday I regret not being able to continue my education and not being able to better my life for my daughter and for her future. I pray that one day these things will change so that you can find more help out there to get an education needed to follow your dreams. The downside to this is that my daughter has already told me she wants to be a Vet so I really need to get my education so that I can afford to pay for her education when it comes that time. If only there were more government help to pay for education or to help cut down on the cost of education in most states. Georgia I knows what they call the Hope Grant where if you have lived in that state for an extended period of time you can attend any State funded college in Georgia for free. Why doesn't other states have this? Why doesn't all of the US do this? Yes I understand that not all states can afford it but my question is what is Georgia doing to be able to afford this? Maybe other states need to take a look and put it into action. Then hopefully parents would not have to worry about their child's education only their own. If education is so important to everyone then why doesn't the government act like it and put better plans in effect all over the US for the thousands and thousands (if not more) children who will never be able to afford and education without their help?
TO FINANCE YOUR COLLEGE EDUCATION OR YOUR CHILDS?
