Hi again. I am here to talk about illegal immigration today, and to find out why I should care about it. Now many of you a probably going to say "Immigration is just wrong." or "We should just deport every immigrant in America right now, so we Americans can get our jobs, culture, etc back." . And to you people that do think like that, I laugh at you. You think immigration is wrong, is everyone in America truly American? Trace your family tree back far enough you will find that most of your relatives are from foreign countries looking for a better life in America....sound familiar? The only true blood North Americans was the Native Americans everyone else was a stranger to this new land. What you think I am wrong and illegal immigration is completely different? Ok then let me ask you this...why are that the only illegal immigration we care about are those from Mexico and South America? To me this is more of a profiling issue. Why should we be more concerned with those south of the border then about those over seas or from north of the border. Oh and by the way...we are extremely strict about our border control and yet the Mexicans welcome us with open, and yet we have a dedicated group of people (minute men) who will basically shoot to kill if one person crosses that border. Also i'm assuming that your wonderful government is planning on building a multi billion dollar wall just to keep Mexicans out. Ah your tax dollars at work. Now many of you also are thinking "Why stick up for these immigrants, when they’re probably stealing your job?" Well I will tell you why. It is the plain and simple fact that the jobs many illegal immigrants take are thankless jobs that many Americans wouldn’t even try to see if they like it or not. I have heard many business men and Store/restaurant owners, whine about how Mexicans are stealing their jobs when they neither work in that job, nor will they ever. Also if an immigrant takes your job, it only means that you weren’t doing it good enough to make your boss rethink it for a second. The immigrants only want better lives for their children and families, but we Americans are so narrow minded that we put up a fence to keep them out and let us come and go as we please. There will come a time when we will need they're help and when they say they will not help us, I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest. Instead of dwelling on the negatives of immigration look to the positive, stop blaming all of your problems on them and go out and do something with your life. And yes....I am friends with many Latinos, Asians, and a few Europeans, and to be honest when I see them in American cultures or ask them a history question, 9 out of 10 times they're right where as some Americans get them completely wrong. Please comment.

I'm glad you find those who oppose illegal immigration humurous.
But actually, I pretty much agree with you. I think current immigrants deserve the same chances all of our ancestors deserve- I've written a blog about my dad, who was an illegal immigrant. However, there are practical problems with illegal immigration that need to be addressed. For example, illegal immigrants often benefit from social welfare programs, and yet they don't pay taxes.
One constructive criticism: paragraphs.
We do need to be concerned with the problems we face with immigration. If they are allowed in the country they should at least learn our history, culture and language and of course pay taxes!!!
I will agree with you on the fact that all immigrants no matter where theyre from or where they go, they should at least learn the common language of the people theyre and the laws. But let me ask you this, Do you know more about your national history then some of those that immigrated from another country and believe they should know this to be a normal person in our society? No because of the simple fact that because you went through all you history lessons for the first years of your life you start to automatically tune out all of your history lessons (unless that is your major) so you begin to stop caring about your own history. Where as if you went to another country you are excited to learn about the culture and history there. It shouldnt be a requirement to learn the culture if you wish to go to another country.
I am Hispanic. My mother was born in Cuba and came to America legally. I am against illegal immigration and that includes not just Hispanics but all illegal immigrants including the Irish illegals. (I'm part Irish to.) I welcome Hispanics that come Legally and I want those who break our laws to be forced to leave. It is not a matter of profiling but rather a matter of enforcing our laws that are popular with the vast majority of our citizenry who want illegal immigration stopped.
Illegal aliens are not immigrants. Immigration is a legal process. People who do not follow this process are not immigrants but are rather criminals who broke our laws. The correct legal term is illegal alien.
Americans will do any job if the pay is right. There is hardly a worse job in America than a garbage man. It is filthy, unhealthy and hard. But Americans take these jobs because they pay great wages. Americans will take ANY job if the pay is right. Large numbers of illegal aliens work construction jobs. Construction jobs have always been desirable blue collar middle-class jobs. Americans continue to take these jobs but they have become less desirable because millions of illegal aliens have flooded into the market resulting in depressed wages. Wages are set by supply and demand and the presence of illegal aliens means too much supply. Illegal aliens make life worse for ordinary Americans by depressing their wages.
Mexicans do not welcome us with open arms. It is much harder to become a citizen of Mexico then it is to become a citizen of the United States. They will let us visit but we are required to leave. If you have a LOT of money or a STEADY source of income they will let you stay but the kind of citizenship they give to foreigners even after decades is decidedly second or third class. Mexicans treat illegal aliens from South of their border with what could only be described as BRUTALITY.
The Minutemen have NEVER shot anybody. They sit on the border in lawn chairs with binoculars and report illegals to law enforcement. No Minuteman has EVER been convicted of a crime related to these border watching activities. Most of them are senior citizens and are just concerned patriots who are mad that the government is not enforcing its own laws.
The border fence will probably cost billions by the time it is done. It is a good investment because illegal immigrants cost us tens of billions. For every dollar we invest in the fence we save ten dollars on things like education, justice, welfare and health-care. And with less illegal immigration unskilled Americans at the bottom of our economy get to earn higher wages which improves their standard of living and means that the rest of us have to pay less to support them with social welfare programs.
But probably an even better investment than a border fence would be stepped up workplace enforcement. We should be going after the businesses that give the illegal aliens jobs and fining them harshly and sending executives to prison. When the jobs dried up most illegals would leave and there would be no need for mass deportations. With no job prospects, the illegals would simply leave at their own expense and for the same reason they came: for a better life.
There may be a time when America needs more immigrants in our workforce. There are 6 billion people on earth growing rapidly towards 9 billion. About 5 billion of these people are POORER than the average Mexican and they ALL want to improve their lives and offer a better future for their children. If we need help, we won't have any difficulty attracting as many immigrants from all over the world as we desire.
Oh, and by the way, we did ask Mexico for help in the War on Terror. They refused. Some friends! I guess we don't need to worry about them not helping in the future either because they have NEVER ONCE behaved like an ally. I'd rather have immigrants from Eastern Europe who are desperate to come legally and who did help.
