Blogging has become my new addiction

So, I've finally taken the initiative to sit down and clear my thoughts through the "art" of blogging. Being that I'm not too computer savvy, I'd say I'm doing pretty well. And best of all, I'm excited. Although, my only worry is that people will not read any of my blogs and / or they will think they're boring and dull. Therefore, I plan on blogging on the absolute most controversial topics, such as the presidential election and pop culture. But many, if not all, of my blogs will mainly convey the issues at stake in this year's election and my personal views and beliefs in regard to those issues. For example, one issue that I have strong feelings about is awareness of domestic violence. If no one has seen the movie "My mother's funeral", go see it somehow. It's scary. Anyway, my sister just woke up and bothering me and it's bugging me so badly. augh. I think it's just because I'm tired. Nonetheless, I guess it's safe to say that I'm only doing this for the points (for the blogging scholarship contest). I mean, I've never really blogged before; maybe once or twice on myspace. But this looks pretty fun and I'm looking forward to it - I might even blog about my daily life experiences, which may sound uninspiring, but my life, living in Myrtle Beach, is an adventure everyday. And not necessarily just parties, it's a multitude of events and situations that make my life so complicated, yet carefree.
I feel as if I'm not very good at this, but I should become better with practice and with more interesting and motivating topics that I feel strongly about.
How about a glimpse of whats to come? But please don't judge me based on my opinions, because remember - everyone is entitled to their opinions, it's their rights as human beings. I'm not saying you can't disagree, because you most likely will - afterall I am an individual, and every idividual has their unique views - but don't formulate judgements.
Well, first of all, this is my first eligible voting election, and after many months of observation and research of party platforms, I've come to the decision I am a Democrat. Not to say that I am fond of Barack Obama, but I will be voting a straight-ticket in favor of the Democratic Party. I agree that Roe v. Wade needs to be upheld, because a woman should be allowed to do whatever she pleases with her own body. In arguement to that, you would probably say that the unborn child has no voice. Yes, true. But if the woman wanted to have an abortion in the first place, couldn't that mean that the child is unwanted? Would you rather see that child grow up in poverty, without proper care, neglected, or bounced from one foster family to the next? Personally, I have experienced and seen too much of that. Many people would say "No.. no mother could possibly abandon her child or children to die." But guys... I'm so sorry to tell you there are worthless people in this world who don't care about anybody but themselves. Look at Casey Anthony. And those people cannot be helped. What about rape? (I know McCain would make exceptions for rape victims and health issues). And what about teenage expecting parents? If you have a teenage daughter, and she became pregnant at 14 or 15, what would you do? That's up to you and your daughter to decide. And only your own morals and perosnal feelings are going to guide you through such an emotional time. But I digress.
That is just one of the political topics I feel a certain way about.
Nevertheless, you'll shall be hearing from me soon,
goodnight, bloggers.

"I guess it's safe to say that I'm only doing this for the points (for the blogging scholarship contest)."

I guess you admitted it...but to only do it for that reason is a stupid mistake on your part. There are more important reasons to be a part of this site, like helping people, informing people, sharing views, debating and making friends.

Plus to be honest if I have to even look at another blog on the recent blog posts page with the words president, election, candidate, Obama, Democrat, or voting I am going to barf and start bleeding out of my ears and eyes. I guess if you can make it different and unique then go for it...but if not then don't expect any reads or comments.

If you can make your daily life interesting in a blog than go for it if you are only going to talk about your day then save that for myspace.

You will get readers and comments if your subjects are unique. Use the nifty search button at the top of the website and search the topic you want to write about. If you see a billion blogs or over 10 then I wouldn't blog about it.

I am not trying to be rude...just trying to help you.

thanks for your input, it's appreciated. I agree that a lot of people are currently sick of hearing about the election ~ but since it's my first voting experience, I'm a little pyched. not to mention I'm taking a governemnt class right now and we debate topics everyday in class - i like it, but it is true that after so much political analyzation, it's tiring. And you're right about the reasons for blogging - I've never considered what purpose blogging could serve but after my second day doing it, i understand better now. Thanks so much for your comment and I hope to hear from you again : )

Since your able to vote of course it is exciting. I was justing going through blogs and getting aggrivated because like every single blog was about the election. I understand it is an important year as well, but for awhile there I was about to go off.

I hope you will have a good experience here.

There is so much more you could blog about besides the old, trite issues of politics and abortion. I mean, you live in South Carolina, one of the worst states for education, and one of the best for things like poverty and teen pregnancy. You live in a city that's filled with tourists 4 months out of the year, and still has those tourists during much of the other 8 months. You live in a city where bikers are turned away from bars, because people are worried about gangs. Surely you can come up with something more interesting than the election and abortion....
