My Congress

Greetings everyone, do you have a pain in your congress? I know that I do. I have chosen to ask some of the most intelligent people I know, ProUers, for help. I also will try to inform some people about a part of Congress that I have issues I do not like. Basically, the idea of a fully liberal congress that many Democrats are trying to create upsets me. Mostly, I do not like this idea because the majority of Americans are moderates, or lean towards conservative ideas. The Liberal congress people will vote via their Liberal views not American views.

Let me explain. We vote our congress person into office, not to vote the way they want to, but to vote the way that WE want them too. They are up there to vote for us because it would be difficult for every American to read and go vote every time a bill needed to be voted on. I would like to be able to remove a congress person that is not doing his/her job right by voting the way that the people want. With that goal in mind, I did some looking and found no information in the way to remove a congress person from office. So, I did the next best thing, I called my congressman Jim Cooper (D- TN) and I asked his second in charge “how do you remove (aka Fire) a congress person”. He said that “there is only two ways to remove a congress person from office. The first is the most popular is to vote for the other guy. The only other way is if the congress person commits a crime he can be removed”.

I like Jim Cooper even though he is a Democrat. I may even vote for him again on Nov. 4, but I have heard that many people do not like the way their Congress person is doing business. I would like a new law to be passed that states that a Congress person can be removed if he/she does not vote the way his/her constituents want them to vote. Some of you maybe asking ‘well who would they put into office to replace this person’? My first answer is easy, the other person that ran against the current congress person but to be fairer they could have a re-election only one week of campaigning and then a vote. This would help to keep our congress people honest to those who put them into office in the first place and give Americans a better voice in congress.

I am not saying lets kick our Congress person out after one bad choice; we can give them a least two strikes. Then during the re-election have one debate to let the current congress person explain why he/she voted the way he/she did and let his/her people make the choice. I know that many people would have been mad that McCain did not vote yes for fixing, or protecting, the everglades, but as he explained, that bill had a lot of earmarks but maybe his constituents like it when congress wastes their tax dollars. We could also have the congress person explain why he/she voted the way he/she did in a letter that is sent out to voters.

I think that you all deserve to know what put me on my high horse about wanting to fire my congress. Well, it all started back during the primaries. I did not like the fact that Obama voted present on bills. I did not know that they could do that, but that was only the start. I kept looking into firing congress off and on since then. Also, I am not sure but I think that the people who voted for Obama would have wanted more then just a present vote. I became more heated on this topic after the 700 billion dollar bailout that was rejected in the house on the first attempted. I remember being happy, my Congress was finally doing something I liked, but that was short lived after I found out that many members on congress only said “NO” because they wanted to get re-elected. That is what sent me over the edge. If you are only going to do the right thing when your job is on the line then you have no integrity and do not deserve to be in the position that you hold. “When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.” Thomas Jefferson

Most of that was to inform people. Here comes the part where I need help. I want to summit a bill to Congress that basically states what I just said in this Blog. The only problem is that I do not speak ‘Legalize’ and sure as hell can not write it. If there is anyone out there that knows how to write a bill for congress that can assist me please contact me and try to help.
