When did love become more destructive than hatred?

Connecticut became the third state in America to end discrimination between heterosexual and homosexual couples. Great, now we just have 47 states to go.

For a country that promotes "freedom" and "democracy," ideals pro-life and peace, we certainly have a lot of inequality, violence, and hatred. Besides the invasions into other sovereigns, we have raped our own people of their right to love, of their right to melt into this vast American pot. Gays can have civil unions but not marry, can have legal rights but can't call each other husband or wife, can be "tolerated" but will never be a part of our home.

I can go on about how gays are no different than hetero couples, about how it is important to look beyond differences, about how we are a country founded upon those differences. But instead, I just wonder why create such arbitrary legislation, such time consuming and complicated ways to prevent certain people from living their lives in a certain way when we have wars and a depression and a gun control problem and a terribly weak education system. We allow the NRA to run free but we cannot let homosexual couples marry, because somehow, love is more destructive than hatred. We will bomb innocents in Iraq and Afghanistan, send our young men and women overseas to support intangible ideals that old men promote in DC, and reject deference to the UN, whose mission is to keep peace among nations. Instead of focusing on these mistakes, we target people who want to be committed to each other, not simply via legal union, but the way everyone else on their street block does.

When did it become a crime to love?

This is our culture. We are war like mongrels that like to parade around with bullets and triggers in our hands. and hate to see two men kissing because it is not manly enought for our combative culture. it just doesnt fit the moild. At least homosexuals have the same rights as a married couple. that is a step in a right direction.

it's so sad when a country as influential as ours, as powerful, too, would become so barbarous and ignorant, not understanding social dynamics at all but just invading sovereigns left, right, and center.

We have become the terrorists.

Same sex couples are allowed to enter into civil unions and they can call their partners what ever they want, but before I dive too much into this I am going to talk about some of the other things you stated. First off, you mentioned the UN did you know that the UN peace keeping force has a bad habit of raping women and children in the areas that they are trying to keep the peace in. Secondly, the NRA does not run around free they provide training and promote safety. As a supporter of the military I find it insulting to no end that you think that we are over in Iraq or Afghanistan bombing the innocents. I will not lie to you sometimes we do have a small amount of collateral damage where civilians are killed in a military attack but the military is not over there randomly killing people and hoping they are guilty. The military has something know as ROE “rules of engagement” that tells us how to fight what are lawful and unlawful targets. So explain to me do same sex couple plan to have their wedding in a church most likely not. Also most of the guy I have talked to about same sex marriage have said they should let them know how it feels to be married.

Members of the NRA promote safety while sporting rifles? That's interesting, considering our country has one of the highest rates of school shootings in the world.

I support our troops in Iraq an Afghanistan; please don't misinterpret my beliefs. It is noble, courageous, and we are all eternally indebted to the men and women dying overseas. But my point was, innocents are dying, all innocents--the accidental Arab civilians and even our own young soldiers.

Finally, you may have spoken to people whose opinion on marriage is perjorative, but everyone deserves an equal chance to make that judgment for themselves.

I thank you for your support of our troops. Your Blog made it sound like you thought America was over there just killing Innocent people. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

Also the NRA is a promoter of safe gun ownership. You can also think about this it is illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to own a gun so where did the kids get them from? Where are the parents when their child changed into a murderous killing machine hell bend on killing his/her classmates? Where were the parents when their kid came home drenched in the smell of gun power and other toxins? Did they know their offspring was playing with guns? Did they have a King of the Hill moment where they final felt like they could bond with them, or did they just not care about their demented youth that they brought into this world? In my opinion guns did not kill these kids but kids with guns did do not blame the gun for someone else's mistake and lack of concern, or caring.

In closing I have no problem with Same Sex marriage. I hope I did not get us off topic to much. I hope you have a great day and I am looking forward to your next blog.
