I am so GLAAD

So there I was sitting on the couch, eating chips and salsa, and watching a Law & Order: SVU about Homosexual pedophilia (people were actually trying not to break the law) when on came the most surprising commercial I have ever seen. It was about being open minded and understanding of homosexuals. It flat out told us to be nice to people in their difficult time and if we were friends of the gay then come to their website. Although I question their timing in showing such commercial I guess I understand it too.

Anyway, I felt motivated to check it out and see what kind of stuff they were talking about. Apparently GLAAD stands for Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation which I think is a good thing because, right or wrong, we are all still people and adults have a habit of acting childish in some of their reactions to things they do not like or understand.

I found that the website is dedicated to promoting fair and truthful representation in the media in effort to eliminate homophobia by shattering stereotypes. Believe it or not, not all gay people are flamboyant men in shiny blue pants and platform shoes or short haired masculine women.

I applauded this site for doing such an outreach to attempt to help. They have a timeline of what has happened for Gay rights in the past. Basically, it seems really interesting and I thought you all should know about the website in the midst of all the other political stuff going on.
