I totally forgot we had the biography feature for almost a year. One night, while waiting for a load of laundry to wash so I could toss it in the dryer and blissfully follow the little Serta Sheep to that fuzzy little land where dreams are born without hopping up 10 minutes later because I stupidly forgot to wash comfy clothes to play mover in the morning, I got bored and decided to visit ProU. While there... I rediscovered the biography feature. And also realized that mine was empty.
(It's not anymore. How cool is that?)
So... while I'm here and all, I might as well write something not in the least interesting that, quite likely, no one other than those of you waiting for your own laundry to wash will ever read.
My name is Fallon. (Yep. I'm cool like that and picked the really original username.) I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice (emphasis in Forensic Psychology) in June of 2009. (Summa Cum Laude. Woohoo!) I then decided since I was already overworked, I might as well go straight to Grad school. I entered the Masters program (Criminal Justice, emphasis in law) a week after I finished my last class for the B.S. program and a full month before I did the whole graduate walk thing.
And then, I decided I still didn't have enough to do... so I took on a second job. I'm now a student, tutor/peer advisor/teaching assistant (Kaplan University) and student advisor (Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions). I'm also a Board member here at ProgressiveU and, as such, am the designated "Fallonizing Things" person. (Basically, I tell you that your attitude sucks and needs adjusting. Only I nice it up. Still not sure how I got that job, but whatever).
I have no freetime. Ever. Unless I'm washing laundry and ignoring the things I could be doing at the same time. But that's a topic for another day.
I have a husband that I adore and who adores me (and the silence my never being around these days affords him). I also have a niece and nephews whom I adore and who think I'm the world's greatest Nanny (which is probably because I'm fairly certain I never matured beyond the age of "ohhh shiny").
When I still had that thing called freetime, I spent a lot of it reading and writing. These days... I have less freetime, but I still spend it reading and writing. And catching up on Angel and Buffy and Charmed and Smallville. I may be a few years late on 3 of the 4, but hey! A girl's gotta start somewhere, right?!
My blogging topics include everything from prematurity awareness and advocacy to crappy parents to racism to the things politicians do that drive me mad to education to tolerance issues to personal responsibility to the more inspirational topics (real life heroes, etc) to the issues that I advocate for as often as is necessary and everything in between. Most of what I write comes from personal experience. One can learn something from anything if one pays attention. I do.
I also over think everything. And, in the course of over thinking, get involved in a lot of different causes and organizations that are important to me. If something needs to be done... I'm your girl.
I plan to go on to Law school and then open a non-profit that provides legal assistance to mentally ill offenders. I also want to work with the homeless, continue fighting for the rights of religious minorities and the GLBT community, study history, travel to the ruins of the world, go on an archaeological dig, have babies, become a foster parent, learn to kick butt and become a ninja, marry Drew Fuller (hubby approves... so long as he gets to marry the 5th Element chick or Alyssa Milano or preferably both), live on the moon, never have a migraine again, and find a way to live off of nothing but tea, chocolate and Welchs fruit snacks. Know anyone hiring someone to do all that? I'm also your girl.
And my laundry is done now so... goodbye. :)
