Welcome to the Topic of the Week!
Each week, we will post a news feed including many news articles relating to a specific topic, as well as questions to help stimulate thought and discussion on those topics. Keep in mind, these are meant to be a starting point. The editors at ProU encourage you to research these topics beyond the news articles we give you here.
If you have any questions about this feature, or would like to have a feed yourself, please e-mail us at news[at]progressiveu.org.

mvenus929's Cultural Topic of the Week:
Questions to Consider:
1) As the election nears, we see more and more concentration on different ethnic and religious groups. Do you think this is a good tactic for politicians?
2) Should the public care about the religious beliefs of the candidates? Should more focus be placed on any certain political office with regards to religion (i.e. should more focus be placed on the religious views of a presidential candidate or a senatorial candidate)?
3) Should religious groups (churches, synagogues, temples, or entire sects) outright support political candidates, or ignore the races completely, or somewhere in between?

Non.Serrated.Edge's Social Ethical Issue of the Week
Questions to consider:
1) We all have the ability to create and destroy life. Under what conditions would you consider either?
2) What is a good policy to prevent more environmental damage than necessary?
3) It is evident that even educated people do not do everything they can to help the environment. What are alternatives to use in conjunction with educating the public?
