The purpouse of a blog is to express your opinions and your feeling. The only requirement progressive you has (pretty much) is that the blog be 100 words. Someone commented one of my blogs saying this isnt very "progressive" What? you define progressive. You decide that my blogs are interesting or not. I wright these blogs to express my opinions my views my experiences to hear feedback to live to grow and blogs dont necasarily have to be anything. They dont have to be about the war in iraq or gun violence or any current events or current issues. They just have to be your opinion on something. Actually in the FAQ this is what it says about how to write a blog post.
"
- Tell people about your personal experiences in your posts -- why are these issues important to you? It's great to have facts and figures, but a blog posting doesn't have to be as formal and impersonal as a term paper. In fact, people often appreciate personal stories even more than dry facts.
- When you can, tie your post in with current news, books, movies, or quotes from celebrities or public figures. People are searching for things that are hot topics of the day, and if your post mentions something that is hot, people may find it through search engines.
- Do informal interviews and quote people in your posts, or grab quotes from events that you attended, or stories you heard or saw on the radio, TV, internet, or other media.
- Use the image post function to upload photographs. Photos grab people's attention, and help tell more of the story.
- Look at other posts for ideas -- you'll see that there are all kinds of styles and topics, and you don't need to conform to a particular format to post to a blog.
- You don't need to say everything that you have on your mind in one post. Break things down into easy chunks, and then use links in your posts to refer to other posts or photos that you have previously written.
" So im not going to conform. Im going to write a post how i want because personally i think that is the purpouse of this website and i really wish people would stop being so negative!

I don't know what post you're specifically talking about, but if you write a blog that looks like it belongs on myspace, you are on the wrong site. We're generally pretty lenient if you follow the other rules, but we generally don't care what your teacher is doing when she's grading your papers unless you think it's a problem in the education system as a whole. If you can't make it fit into one of the topics on the second list when you create your blog, it probably doesn't belong here.

"Tell people about your personal experiences in your posts -- why are these issues important to you?"
Yes, it says issues. I agree with not posting serious things all the time, the occasional funny/ramdom poost is good sometimes. But seeing goodness knows how many random poems or about how they walked their dog today and they stepped on a piece of gum, it can get pretty annoying. :)

but thats my point all of my blogs to get to an issue in them somewhere sometimes its more evident and sometimes its not. Idk i guess i think as long as i dont talk like "omg today i went to the mall and then bobby came over etc..." i should be fine.

You have too many grammatical errors and spelling mistakes for your blogs to be considered seriously. You CAN'T post just anything here, and despite the fact that you aren't saying "omg like I went to the mall" etc., thats what you ARE saying to get to your "point".
I'm disappointed.

feeling more than typing
i do agree that i have a lot of grammatical errors but thats because progressive doesn't have spell check. Im just kidding, but seriously i will be the first one to admit that i am not the best speller and im not the best with grammer either. So what, that doesnt make my content any less interesting. If you dont want to read my blogs than fine but dont be rude. All i am doing in these blogs are expressing MY opinions and yes maybe i should be more careful with grammer but i think your comment was overly harsh.

First of all, I want to remind you that I have been with this site wholly longer than you have--approximately a year more, to be exact. When I joined, 95% of posts were relevant with the mission this site has; to get students to research and express how current events (politically, environmentally, to name a couple) affected their lives personally, and blog about it. Then comes other people's opinons, new facts arise, debate ensues, etc.
Your blogs, from the few I was attracted to through your "shiny title" had pretty much nothing to do with any of that, maybe on the smallest of margins.
When you talked about going on a diet and feeling fat after eating a piece of pizza, and 90 short words later coming to a point that is known by pretty much everyone, that is not progressive. When you talked about how your prom dress didn't arrive after spending all that money on it (and the rest of your tab) and your point was that you should have ordered it later, that is not progressive. I could continue to make examples, but its 11pm and I have work at 5am tomorrow. But I digress.
Sure, you can post whatever you want, but let me give you some constructive criticism in terms of editing your posts(I'll use one post as the prime example): Change the title. You have nothing to compare yourself with starving ethiopian children. Secondly, telling the world how your mom and her friend thinks your fat, you are a workout fiend, and just eat well, exercise, and live healthy, is not progressive. If you decided to blog about how a no carb diet led to serious side effects as stated in a certain study and how that affected a relationship with your mother and her friend whom refused to accept the fact that it wasn't healthy...that is one thing. The former is not.
My opinion on femi-nazis has affected me; they deteriorate my mental health. Significantly. But instead of just saying "Omg they won't stop talking about how great Hillary is wtf just don't listen to them", I go on to state facts from investigative reports, several respected journalist claims and clear, plain evidence. From there, debate ensues.
Going back to my original point about how this site USED to have 95% of progressive-related blogs, it has deteriorated because people are just blogging for money, not for the cause it is trying to help (the enrichment of young lives).
I'm disappointed in you because you have the potential to not be one of those people. Please, help enrich yourself and those around you. (And that includes to double checking grammatical and spelling errors.)

so of course my first couple of pages of blogs arent going to be perfect, but i was trying to express some of my opinions and views. You could have stated it different and realized because you have been here sooo long that not everyone knows exactly what to do.

That's why we're TELLING you now. As far as your grammar and spelling, I suggest you download firefox as your browser, and download the spell check plug in. Seeing all those red squiggly lines should help you out some.

They are clearly stated in the initial sign up pages; so yes, I do expect for you to know whats going on, despite it being your first "couple of blogs" (which is untrue, seeing as how you post at least 4 or 5 a day for the last 2 weeks you have been on here...equates to...more than just a few blogs).
Not everything has to be perfect--just literate enough for other people to understand. You need to articulate your point better. Like I said before, I know you can do it, so try it out. Act like you were writing it for a grade, only the people who are grading you are your peers (which is much more important than a professor, in my opinion).

"which is much more important than a professor, in my opinion"
I completely agree with this opinion. Being reviewed by peers can be much more rewarding and constructive than being reviewed by a professor. Perhaps it's because we are not forced to do so in a professional manner? Of course, it helps us to act semi-professionally anyway, but all in all I've noticed that I receive much more honest criticisms from peers than from any of my professors, who seem to be afraid that they will hurt my feelings.

Well if a professor were to say to you something like that you could have him fired. However, if you read something off in class I didn't like, I could say whatever I wanted and with no marks on my record. Maybe fail the class...but whatever. I could take it again.
Figuratively speaking, of course.

obviously and if you even knew how articulate i am...its sickening. Im on speech team for god sakes. Just everyone get off my back. Yes you are hear to judge me, but please i feel like im a target and the arrows keep flying. Of course i will try to do things different, but please stop attacking me. Its not like i'm some dumb blonde who doesnt know how to speak. I performed in front of the district 202 school board yesterday so obviously im not. Yes i am capable of writing better, but sometimes i dont have the time. So i put in my opinion as best as i can. I need this scholarship money to be blatantly honest. My college all together is around 37,000 dollars a year. I agree its not fair to the people that are not on here to win scholarship money and thats not the only reason why im on here either. Thats why in most of my blogs i tried to bring up relevant current events and discussions. SO IM SORRY if my blogs arent good enough for you, but between directing a play, which i also wrote and am a character in. Thespian inductions. Prom. School. Work. Trying to get scholarship money it gets pretty tough and then when i have any time left over i come on here trying my hardest to write something interesting, current, and readable, but then there are people who critisize everything i do. So yes i will try harder to put blogs up here that are fit for "progressive" but im going to have the occasional blog that you might have to look for the "progressive" material in it, but trust me its always there. You might see a change in my blogs, but you might not. All i can do is try.
http://www.progressiveu.org/blog/emily-hansen
I think you might have taken what Cadet said too much to heart. She wasn't attacking you at all, and in most of what I read on her comments, she was pretty flattering and expressive about how she knew you could do well.
Think of it like this; how do you feel when you see someone that can do something, and do it well, but for some reason or another just doesn't do it, or doesn't do it as well as they could? Like a teacher or a parent that looks at a child and thinks "he could do so much better; he's not working up to his potential" type of thing.
I guess you could look at it as though Cadet was saying "You aren't doing well"; But I think it's much more accurate and healthy to look at her comments and see "I think you can do well if you really began trying".

Thank you for pointing it out. I thought it was obvious. Hell, even Simon Cowell is nice sometimes.

I think you just hit the nail on the head as to why I left for a year in the first place.
Readers; see if you can point it out.
