I recently heard "Smack that" by Akon, which is a catchy song, but what upset me is that Eminem is back. Many, many people will argue that he is a great rapper, but I think not. One of my good friends and I had a discussion about this earlier in the day where he argued that he doesn't only rap about drugs, alcohol, misusing women or what not, or cars. In reaction, I do not believe his rap is much better. Eminem raps about all of his personal problems like any of us honestly care. He claims he doesn't like all the media that his break up with Kim got or his feuds with his mother, but its mostly all I hear in his music. I was truly shocked when I heard "Cleaning out my Closet" and saw the video. Is he implying that he wants to kill his mother? Does he have skeletons in his closet? Who knows.
I believe a truly good rapper is possibly Kanye West. His rap is positive and has a good message, and he switches the topics of his rap songs off sometimes, which Eminem hasn't mastered yet. I don't think anyone would be interested in a rap about the problems in my life, and Eminem shouldn't be an exception.

Everyone talks about the problems in their life. Music is a form of expression, a way of venting to keep your emotions from getting bottled up inside. Usher devoted an entire album, Confessions, to his problems. Many country songs are all about peoples problems. And I belive that Eminem has grown in his music since he first began. I'm not, nor have I ever been, a fan of his but I can appreciate the fact that he raps what he knows and not some bullshit like others do.
Almost every music has some influence of personal problems in song form. Not only rap, but also rock, metal, hip-hop, etc. And I do agree with Miniya up there.
I don't consider all rap songs that arent completely "meaningful" bullshit...but maybe I consider Eminems music a little too much bitching. Maybe I'm just a fan of upbeat music, your pretty much calling all other rap music bullshit, which you have no place to say. That is my opinion and you have yours. ;-)
Rappers need to evolve with the times, right?
I wrote a song that I think you would all like and appreciate.
Please listen and leave some comments.

I can understand why you don't like Eminem, but before you rush to sum him up, maybe you should take a closer look at him. First of all, he is very dark and angry in his songs, but often about political or public issues just as much as personal, like "Mosh," "Stan" and "White America". He also uses a lot of humor in his songs too, like "Just Lose It" and "Big Weenie". I actually often put on certain Eminem songs to get myself into a good mood and have a good laugh.
...what would you rather him rap about...his life growing up in Detroit filled with cars, money and misuse of women (how is that possible) or some fake story? If he's gone platinum more than once then the man has to be doing something right...
You assume I like rap about cars, money, and the misuse of women?...I would rather rappers rap about positive things, not bitch about their problems, or fake stories. Oh, and plenty of people that rap about cars and money and such have gone platinum also, so you have no argument. You have obviously never heard an exceptional rap song if thats what you think of when you think of rap.
...I also think his style is simply trailer trash ridiculous...
