Spring Ultimate...totally progressive

Okay, I may regret extending my definition of rigorous progression to such an innocent, fun wielding sport, but here goes.
First on the to-do list--how does Ultimate Frisbee represent a forward installation of the way humans think about sports? Simply put, UF is a non-contact competitive sport. It's just as if you're wading through a cool mountain stream. Yeah, that calming. But it's competitive.

And unlike testosterone exertable activities and those that make hitting people with pads 'fun', there's a degree of finesse UF. Nothin' says progress like lax, gliding movements that accomplish smoothness of altitude more easily than brute-f. To obtain a better future, listen to the soothable songs of Ludwig Van.

Or, take it to the street and toss a disc. Either way, you've exercised a relevant progressive principle.

It's not about the rote learning of air speed velocity. Nor does a simple calculation determine arc. Ultimate is not science. Not when you're on the field, it's not. That's not progression. Flnnerd says, "Progress for another person might mean digging several more feet forward in their irrigation system." Yeah. Sure.
To play Ultimate Frisbee you gotta practice. Thus, propelling some forward growth. Like an irrigation system.

Do I need to spell it out? Mother nature brought with her some spare mistletoe. Zeus arose with his thunder. Iron was formed. Football became a sport. Then came the 175 gram flying disc, and the students. "The students who played and codified the rules at Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ were an eclectic group of students including leaders in academics, student politics, the student newspaper, and school dramatic productions" (Wikipedia). Wikipedia reporting on UF...

So progressive, I can't believe it's not Ralph Nader.

Haha, this is great. I love ultimate frisbee. A bunch of my friends get together and play a game every week in the spring time. What I've found, however, is that no matter how good you are, female players do NOT get passed to as much as the male players. Even if you catch the disc every time, and make great passes, you will be picked last for a team (or nearly last, anyway) or won't get passed to as much. I feel like I have to prove myself way more than any guy playing does. What gives? Just my personal experience, though.

Disc is so great because it can be so graceful...though it is fun to get all grass-stained in a valiant effort at diving to make a catch. =)

It has been my mission to ensure equality in the field. I've seen the same things you have, however. Not to mention the old fashioned catch in front of a girl (who's on the male player's team!). That's when you just have to call bullshit, man. Gotta thunder, "Let the women play" when you get jipped, sister. Tag you're it.
