what are we supposed to do when all of the worlds problems seem too big or too far away? aids is burning through africa, but we don't see it. our work "accomplished" by war is collapsing, but it's only on our tv's. the polar bear's ice is melting and china's dams are cracking, but what are we to do about it? spackle the dam? plop some ice cubes in the ocean?
at times i feel myself become completely overwhelmed by the thought of attempting any sort of activism i get dizzy and have to sit down. sure there are foundations, but how much can donations here and there really do?
one thing, if this blog points out anything, is that all i have...perhaps what most of our generation has...is questions. just questions.
it is undeniable that there is a sense of helplessness to this thought process that i'm attempting to weave through. however, i must remind myself that i am not on the bad end of this time in the world. i am just a little piece of the large portion that truly has it easy.
now what to DO with this power.
i may feel like a helpless person, but to gather all the so called helpless and create something larger than our complaints? now, that is one question that leaves a feeling of optimism.

well I think this is a great place to get a start doing something...I mean there are so many blogs on here about the problems of society and how we can fix them...believe it or not people do pay attention to things like this...word gets out and something can get done...it won't be quick or easy...but hey you have a pretty darn good start
Kathleen Jackson
Im no genius.... but are we not doing something by just posting our concern for these issues on websites like this one?? People are bound to read them, and they get thousands of hits; so someone closer to the source is reading this as well and thinking "hey, i could help!! it's right here in my own back yard!!"
We all would like to do something great for the world we live in, but starting small like this is great too. Ideas spread, and grow; their roots will go deep.
Dont lose hope.
i really hope so.
especially since i do want to be a writer...even just to continue to do it through out my life for myself...i would like to think that words can cause action.
thank you
thank you. i mean, right now some friends and i are starting a bunch of events to help raise money for the cancer foundation...i want to do something for the save darfur foundation as well.
one step at a time i'm hoping i'll find a bigger way to make something of it all.
untill then, i'm just going to keep trying.
This spurred in me some sort of impelling interest to create a blog of simple ways to make the world a more beautiful place. Would you like to collaborate?
Coal is to shaving as nuclear power is to waxing. For the time being, they are both relatively cheaper options, and each is a fast fix to the energy problem. Now, factor global warming back in --"Hairy Sustainability" by A-squared, a ProU blogger
