Voting

I am sure that most people know about American Idol, Dancing With the Stars, and all other shows where 'America' get's to vote. Call the number on your screen to vote for this couple, or for this singer...blah blah blah. It was on one such rare occasion of my actually watching one of these shows, I picked up the phone and decided to "vote". When the results were revealed the next day, the couple I had voted for was still in the game. Grant it I will admit that I did vote more than once for the same couple, but they won didn't they?

Later that night, in my inability to sleep, I wondered what kind of country we would live in if we voted for presidents like we voted for our next 'American Idol'. The senators would be the judges, but they have no votes, they're just there to give opinions on the politicians up for the canidacy.

There are of course many flaws to my little imaginative world of making our votes count more than they actually do, but the final conclusion was how sad it is that personal votes count so much more for a television show, than they ever have in any election.

well as long as each "debate" has a theme and we eliminate one candidate every time, I think voting rates would go way higher and through the roof, and like we'd have past presidents make guest appearances and stuff, I think this is really a good idea.
