Uncertain

As most people know election are coming up which makes me think more about politics than I would any other year. This year I’m not quite old enough to vote and will have to wait 4 years for the next presidential elections. One of the topics I have been particularly set on is how voters decide which candidate would perform the best. Not only that but how does one pick a political party. How do you know if you are a Democrat, a Republican, or Independent? According to the dictionary, a democrat is a person who believes in the political or social equality of all people, a Republican is a person who believes in a state in which the supreme power rests in the body of citizens entitled to vote and is exercised by representatives chosen directly or indirectly by them, and an Independent is someone who is free from party commitments in voting. Explain to me what that means or if there is a better definition then I would like to know. Then once you know what political party you are, you don’t always pick you're side's candidate. I would like your advice on how to pick a political party and your opinions and how this election is going. Does the mass media affect you’re confidence in the candidates when the mass media always have their opinion on the candidates. What is your opinion on each candidate and are they running a affective campaign.
