The question that's been on my mind for the past hour was "What is high school to me?" Basically, all I thought about was school lately. I find high school to be a giant social group of people that have different views on life. It's fascinating! It's my senior year and the question suddenly comes up. High school is one of the big things if college is involved, but it's also one of the big things if socialization is involved. If I were ask someone right now "What is high school to you?" They'll give me a few different answers. "Work is high school." "Friends are high school" "Learning is high school." "High school is fun." "High school is a big deal." High school is a many things! So I'm personally just wondering:
What is high school to you?
Or for the college student and over:
What was high school to you?

High school to me is hard work and learning time management skills high school is supposed to be the best years of our lives - i highly doubt this....
During freshman to Junior year supposedly that was high school to me, too! I didn't really enjoy it. My senior year currently is the total opposite! I'm so interested in school that I've been opening up more, writing more, and looking at colleges with enthusiasm. If you really look at all the good things (hopefully there are at least a few) during your high school career, you wouldn't have to say it was your best, but you got through it and the experience was... Interesting.
Just stating an opinion, of course. I do like your answer, though!
See, I'm a bit worried, because I'm currently a junior in high school.
And I really don't care about what's happening around me and my grades.
Which is bad, considering how important junior year is...
But high school, to me, is a collection of bad memories that i'd much rather throw away than treasure.

This is actually very interesting! I've gone through junior year and almost failed a few classes. Of course, my parents weren't very proud of that. You should try to keep up academically, though. See, when colleges look at your transcript it's not ONLY your junior year it's your Freshman-Junior year. Senior year grades are used for just in cased you messed up. All this information I hear from the career center adviser. It's good to care about school, take it seriously! It's really going to pay off in the long-run. Many people state this every single day and it may sound boring, but it's important!
Anyways, are you into art? I know this has nothing to do with the subject and is very random, but I'm very interested to find out. (Art: Writing, drawing, graphics, music)
You don't have to listen to anything I'm saying right now or answer the question, I don't want to feel like you're obligated to listen to me or answer what i just asked, but I'm happy you commented!
i didn't enjoy much of high school. The first two years i wasted alot of time. And in 11th and 12th grade i barely have time to just relax. I know i'm doing something very good for myself though.
I agree! High school for some time, until this year, has been alright. Not "Great", but "Alright". Now, since I've been introduced to many of things that have to do with college it's interesting. Are you in college now? Or are you a senior in high school? If you're in college, what is it like so far? If senior in high school, do you have time for any activities or have any talks with your career adviser (if you have one at your school), or counselor about college?
I just want to ask questions, as I stated in some other replies, you're not obligated to reply, but I always appreciate the comments, anyways!
High school was the best and worst four years of my life so far. It would take pages and pages for me to explain what I mean by that, so I'll just leave it there. I'm sure others can relate.
I was half optimistic and half pessimistic about high school from freshman year. It only became so fascinating for me this year, so I'm enjoying it. If you could give just one example of what you liked and didn't like, I would really look forward to that!
You don't have, too. I'm just happy you commented is all.
to me high school is a place where drama happens, but where the best times of my life have happened, thanks to FCCLA, i've made the bestest friends anyone could hope for and we've had the greatest time together.
That sounds great! I totally understand the concept "High school = Drama!", but finding a program helps make it all better because of the socialization and meeting new people! I think that's so cool! I'm sorry, I sound really exited, but seriously, I think that is really cool that you found really cool/good friends in FCCLA. Thank you for the awesome comment!
High school was good for me; much better than grammar school, even though some bad things happened to me in high school, but I'm going to mainly focus on the good times. My best year in high school was my senior year because a lot of good and special things happened to me during that year (sorry, I can't mention all of them because there's too many to mention!).
high school WAS (even though it only ended a few months ago) an AWESOME experience for me. I loved it. It had it's ups and downs, but overall, it was great :)
I don't like high school. I was told before I started that these would be the best four years of my life, so perhaps that set a high standard that it just never lived up to. I find my peers obnoxious and annoying, there's work I don't want to do, and most of the time I just don't feel like I'm being challenged enough (though this could have something to do with the No Child Left Behind Act, and all of our programs getting cut). It's just not any fun.
that's so true. Bush has cut so many programs throughout the past several years and he just recently cut all Career and Technology funds and that makes me mad because that means all funds for CTSOs are cut.
