New Windows OS

Tagged:

Thursday, Microsoft announced its official recommended hardware requirements for Windows Vista operating system.

Vista will be the most demanding operating system Microsoft has sold to date, and the company suggests that machines running Vista’s Premium version, which includes the Windows Aero experience, have at least a 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and a Direct X9-capable 3D graphics system.

Good things I am an Apple fan because my desktop definately couldn't run that. Those specs create a fairly expensive computer, for someone like me to afford at least. Plus those specs are just to run the OS, not including things like Adobe Photo software, games, or new Office releases.

In the opinion of PC Magazine’s lead analyst, Joel Santo Domingo, the requirements are a bit steep, especially for owners of aging computer systems.

Is anyone looking foreword to this OS? Changing to Apple? Sticking with XP for now?

You know, they have a non-premium verson of Vista that doesn't have all of the graphics crap on it. I think I'll go with that if I choose to upgrade. I'd go with Apple, but they're still too expensive. You'd think that after they put the intel chip in the apple computers, the prices would go down. Time will tell, I guess.

I'm not going to Vista, because it's pushing for Hi-Def content that requires most people to replace their monitors.
