That is a link to the story on MSNBC. Basically, this guy was 17 and he and a 15 year old girl had consensual oral sex. In Georgia, this is a felony (at least I assume it's a felony, because felonies are worse than misdemeanors and intercourse is a misdemeanor with less punishment) for some reason. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and has served nearly two years of that. The judge agreed to release him, calling his incarceration a terrible travesty of justice, yet the attorney general wants him to stay in jail. What's odd, is that intercourse in the state of Georgia is punishable by not more than a year.
And this oral sex was consensual.
This is stupid. Personally, I don't plan on having oral sex before I'm married. That's my choice and my freedom to choose what I do or do not do. These two people chose to go for it. And though the website isn't clear, he obviously got in ALOT of trouble for it. Why wasn't she in trouble if it was consensual? If both had a part and they wanted to punish the guy, they should have punished the girl, too. Shouldn't teens, at least teens aged 15 and above, be able to consent to consensual sex with other minors 15-18? Personally, I don't think that teens should be having sex anyway, but I can't use my convictions to govern or judge everybody else.
Yes, it is a black guy. I generally don't use the race card when I consider issues, but I wonder if that's what happened in this case.

Because the law was screwed up. He didn't get punished for having oral sex, but for having oral sex with a 15 year old (who by law, he was too old to have any type of sexual relations with). The kicker of it is he's now branded a sex offender. Gotta love that.

If they want to label every 18yr old that has relations with a minor a sex offender, then there will be a lot more names added to the list. The number of teens having sex has gone through the roof- and the number of 18yr olds having CONSENSUAL sex with minors is also insane.
It wasn't rape, she consented... why is their any penalty at all? And now, like the previous comment said, hes branded for life...gotta love the government.
